Rape and Incest are Buzzwords? Your kidding right?

The Democratic Rep from S. Dakota Tim Johnson already has someone running against him. We need to pray to everything holy that Joel Dykstra (R) does NOT get elected by the voters in S.Dakota my dear reader. From Shakesville:

The first republican has thrown his hat in the ring against ailing Democratic Sen. Tim Johnson, D-S.D. Who is it? State Rep. Joel Dykstra, R-Lincoln County:

South Dakota state Rep. Joel Dykstra (R) has officially entered the race for the Republican nomination to face Sen. Tim Johnson (D) in 2008.

If the guy sounds familiar to you, he should. He was a leader on the anti-choice side in the South Dakota abortion ban fight, and got off this brilliant bon mot during the campaign to repeal:

“I think ‘rape and incest’ is a buzzword,” said Rep. Joel Dykstra about not including those conditions in the abortion bill. “It’s a bit of a throwaway line and not everybody who says that really understands what that means. How are you going to define that?”

Indeed. So confusing, this “rape” and this “incest.” Who can understand complex concepts like those?

WTF is wrong with this man? This is an example of the kind of bravado and bullshit we face in the war on Theocracy and the war on our reproductive rights as women. We can not continue to let men like this Asshat represent the people of America.

Men like Joel Dykstra should be feared and loathed. He means to do us more harm than George Bush’s terrorists. We must work to stop men like this from holding elected office. Ignorance has many faces, but none so disgusting as Joel Dykstra.
