Tuesday post for peace

This particular post gets tougher and tougher for me to write each week because I can’t wrap my mind around why the concept is so difficult. I can’t understand greed. With all of the major religions tied up in this little hate fest- and all professing to love god and want to keep his commandments - I just have to wonder at why they still covet. Really - isn’t this what all of the wars are started on? Oh sure, there are gallant and sweeping ‘reasons’ given but what it boils down to is we want what you have and we are going to take it. Bottom line. I think that it is mind boggling that in a country with less want than possibly any other country on the planet - that we should covet anything that anyone else has. Much less blow up their families to get it. Think about that for a moment.

Betmo isn’t it BushCo’s wanton desire for Iraq’s oil his crime against humanity? The people of the Unite States were lied to in order to drag us into occupying Iraq. It’s what Bush and the PNAC assholes want and I believe the majority of the people in our country would never of supported this war from the beginning. Have you ever read the Project for a New American Century? It was formulated years ago..and for the most part it’s all been brought to fruition under Bush43.
The extremist Muslims aren’t without blame either. They have been trying to take over various countries in the Middle East and Africa for quite awhile..before 9/11.
I guess what I am saying is that the extremists are the ones that bring this bullshit on..its ALWAYS ‘those people’.
dusty, yeah, i know about pnac and whatnot. i guess i was wondering why so many of ‘us’ are so gung ho to jump onto the bushco and extremist bandwagon. there is a significant number of americans- right and left- who think that mexicans are out to take ‘what’s ours.’ that india has taken ‘our jobs’ and that the evil muslim horde is out to destroy ‘our way of life’- so we’d better get their oil instead. i know why our politicians are the way they are- power hungry people go after what they want at all costs and do what they have to to keep it. i question why it is that so many of us ‘regular folks’ think it’s ok to covet without thinking.
I don’t think that many of us “regular folks” think it’s ok to covet what isn’t ours Betmo. Bush has lied to everyone..not just the progressives. I fail to see how you come to that conclusion. I know too many people who have been Republican’s their whole lives that are sick and tired of Bush and his bullshit.
India hasn’t taken our jobs..the corporatocracy sent them over there. I think most people do not harbor hatred for Mexicans either.
When you say a significant number..what do you mean? Where do you see anything that supports that or is it your pov?
Also, I do believe the extremist Muslims want us dead. There is a small group of extremist Muslims that want to see the world transformed into their sick image. But that ALSO goes for our own crazy group of Theocratic assholes here in America too.

well, dusty, i listen to people talk. basic folks in my neighborhood, in the news, on the street. if a random section of folks here in east jesus new york say things like that- or forward emails that have certain slants- i have a feeling that there are many rank and filer folks in this country who believe that way. we get wrapped in an insulated cocoon of protest and activism but i don’t think most folks in this country feel that way. sure, they are dissatisfied with this country right now, but there was a recent poll- gallup i think (i will see if i can locate it) that showed a large percentage of folks still think iraq had something to do with 9/11 and al quaida when it is clearly not so. people in my neck of the woods bitch all of the time about our jobs going to india- and they think that mexicans should stay in mexico. but- this is a blue collar small city in upstate new york- so we tend to be a bit more conservative. i take a look at what is in motion-the economy, the fact that folks by and large haven’t done squat towards changing any part of their lifestyles- beyond recycling and voting once a year or so- the fact that they are talking 2009 for troop reduction- the fact that we are selling arms to the saudis and whoever else wants them but we don’t arm our own soldiers- you get the picture. and there is only a few of us out here. no, i am not in despair, but i think that we need to start taking a hard look at ourselves, at our families, at our friends, our neighbors. because really- isn’t that a mirror of our country?
I agree that there are progressives out there that aren’t totally progressive Betmo. I was having this discussion with a good friend the day. Progressives can be homophobes just like anyone else as an example.
Blue collar folks get their information in sound bites from the evening news. There has to be a concerted effort to inform folks that the MSM is NOT their friend.
I know what poll your talking about, I saw it too..but its not a big percentage I don’t recall..I could be wrong. I hope you do find it.
But to me, that all goes back to BushCO’s spin..he keeps repeating shit until people think its just GOT to be the truth. ..the MSM doesn’t help either because THOSE assholes keep letting him get away with it and they keep putting it on the evening news.
The Democrats really aren’t our friends either..just look at Shumer and Pelosi and Conyers and the whole shitload of em..pandering to Big Business and then trying to sell it to us with a candy-coating on it.
The Bankruptcy bill is a good example..it fucked the hell out of the average Joe. But most people won’t know about it unless and until they have a huge financial crisis or a catastrophic illness. The Dem’s just loved that friggin bill..Same with CAFTA and NAFTA..thank Bill Clinton for that shit and this time around the friggin Dem’s are making backroom deals with Bush to push even more of that crap down our throats.
I still see the problem as one of how the issues are presented..the spin in other words. If the truth was told instead of everyones spin..people would have a clearer view of what really is going on.
