Once upon a time, there was a Place called the Department of Justice. It was a noble institution, one we could always be sure would do the right thing and that politicization of the Department would never occur to taint their decisions or prosecutions….

Those days of old are gone sportfans..seriously..they have been for over six years now. Our DoJ is headed by a man who has sold his soul to the devil…aka George W. Bush. The Department has been a haven for liars, carpetbaggers and charlatans that care more about the Asshat in the Oval Office and covering his lily-white, privileged ass than doing the “People’s” business. We also have the whores working out of the White House..you know..Rover,Bolton, Jennings, a myriad of other whores and former whore-in-waiting Harriet Mier’s to thank for our downward spiral into the abyss.

The only way to break the back of this horrible beast is for our Congress to do its job. Their job, which our founding fathers put in writing, was among other things… to protect our country from an evil dynasty of men who would rather lie to us, spy on us, squander human lives, drain our federal budget, take care of their friends, cronies and business partners AND sacrifice what’s left of our Constitution….for personal gain.

Why did this happen now when Congress is planning a month long vacation which is thinly disguised as time to go home and ‘talk to their constituents’ you might ask yourself..I know I did. There are many different scenarios and they all stink to high heaven.

Back, many moons ago..the designers of our Government and the Constitution gave equal powers to both Congress and the Executive branch regarding criminal prosecutions outside the normal course of due process. The DoJ’s Office of Legal Counsel(OLC) should work for the people, but in reality it also does the President’s bidding. So, from RawStory we get this:

The Bush administration has floated the idea that the US Attorney for the District of Columbia will not be required to prosecute any of these three officials under the criminal contempt statute, pointing to a series of findings from the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel.

The OLC opinions emerged after a 1982 dispute between President Reagan’s Environmental Protection Agency and two House committees over an investigation into Superfund toxic site clean-up projects. In one key 1984 opinion, the OLC stated that, “a U.S. Attorney is not required to refer a contempt citation to a grand jury or otherwise to prosecute an executive branch official who is carrying out the President’s direction to assert executive privilege.”

Now, the wonderful folks over at the Congressional Research Service (CRS) have provided us AND Congress with a recent report which outlines Executive Privilege protections that our Asshat-in-Chief can and should claim with regard to current and former White House officials from criminal contempt citations by Congress. See, the operative phrase here is “Criminal Contempt Citations by Congress”.

Anyway..that report from the CRS calls BULLSHIT on the Asshat-in-Chiefs current cry of Executive Priviledge my dear reader. The reason they are calling bullshit is because criminal prosecutions should trump anything and everything the Asshat-in-Chief chooses to use his Executive Privilege on. Why would you protect criminals? I wondered that as well. Lets let the report explain it for us shall we:

“The assertion that the legislative history of the 1857 statute establishing the criminal contempt process demonstrates that it was not intended to be used against executive branch official is not supported by the historical record,” they write. “A close review of the floor debate indicates that Representative H. Marshall expressly pointed out that the broad language of the bill ‘proposes to punish equally the Cabinet officer and the culprit who may have insulted the dignity of this House by an attempt to corrupt a Representative of the people.’”

The CRS researchers also point out that the drafters of the 1857 criminal contempt statute rejected considerations of attorney-client privilege when they authored their bill.

I personally think that’s pretty friggin’ clear, don’t you? If you are a criminal or harboring them..Executive Privilege won’t protect your worthless ass. I am stunned that our Asshat-in-Chief would even attempt to cover the ass of these criminals..but then again..not really..they are ALL CRIMINALS. The question does remain..when will the fuckwits in Congress DO THEIR JOBS? They have the tools to handle this..sweet Jesus on a stick..they surely do.

So, I asked that question regarding Congress doing their freaking job properly, without screaming, gnashing of teeth or insolent attitude. I think we ALL need to address whether these Democratic representatives are worth re-electing. If their not..and I don’t think they are..then we as voters have to vote their worthless asses out of office and replace them with individuals that have the conscience of their convictions.
