Depleted Uranium- The gift that keeps on giving.

There are some bloggers who walk the walk. They are on the road much of the year speaking about the horrors and dangers of War. Charlie, Tammara and REB 84 are three who I have the pleasure of knowing, if only on the ‘internets’ through emails and their blogs. These are individuals that spend the majority of their life educating the public and our elected officials about the human cost of the wars our country wages. Tony Snow might call dead soldiers ‘just a number’ and to some they very well may be just that, but I choose to believe that people inherently care about the human cost of war. I might be deluded and god knows that is entirely possible..but I just couldn’t go through life thinking people are cold, calculating, unfeeling individuals by nature.
Those are learned emotions and responses. Unless of course your Dick Cheney, but I digress.
Tammara and the two gents I named have raised my awareness of DU-Depleted Uranium. It’s something that is a necessary evil, if you listen to the military…and just outright fucking evil if you listen to scientists and folks like my three friends. Our government sent Dr. Doug Rokke to the Middle East during and after the first Gulf War. He was sent to investigate the effects and amounts of DU left there by our military. He came back sick and affected by the very substance he was sent to investigate. He was put on 40% disability due to his service, for which our government keeps putting him back into action..ironic no? He now lectures on the subject of DU and its effects, one of which is available here as a podcast to download. The podcast is a lecture from last year. His lecture is very blunt he doesn’t mince words. He says that war’s objective is to kill, and that DU weapons are the cream of the ever-lovin crop…he doesn’t deny that fact. What he tells us is..DU is the “gift that keeps on giving”….years and decades after the War is won or lost, casualties continue to mount up long after the tanks have left and the soldiers are back home…safe in their own beds.
The only way to remove the hazards of DU is to totally encase the ‘thing’ blown up and the surrounding topsoil. To wrap it up like a ‘huge hersheys kiss’. Then you dig down 6 inches at least and remove the topsoil for roughly 1000 feet around. It’s a process the military isn’t willing to do. Seriously, they removed 25 blown up vehicles from the Gulf War I..shipped them back to the states…and it took them 3 years to figure out how to totally destroy the vehicles and remove all trace of DU.
So they didn’t do THAT again.
Our government also doesn’t recognize overexposure to DU as a medical illness. They won’t treat our men for it..because basically they say it doesn’t exist. Its not on the books, sorry..come back later after you have developed cancer or another of the side effects of DU overexposure.
We have left a toxic wasteland all over the earth. It’s been used in one form or another since the 40’s. The level of use during the 1st Gulf War was the highest..before the current one anyway…
Dr. Michael Kilpatrick is the medical man for the military. This guy is the one who states overexposure to DU isn’t on the books, therefore it must not exist. It would be prudent to note that the gov’t does have a training film about exposure to DU. The problem is, much of the equipment issued to deal with an instance of exposure to DU is faulty. It’s old, its outdated like so much of the equipment we sent our soldiers off to this war with. Not to mention soldiers were exposed without their knowledge and actually picked up pieces of contaminated equipment and fashioned jewelry out of it among other things.
There are hundreds of miles of blown up shit all over Iraq. The DU won’t go away and neither will the soldiers that were overexposed to it. The military’s healthcare budget is off the charts. It’s going to get worse before it gets better. But cutting corners on this issue is fuckwittery at its best my dear reader. If they make them use these weapons of mass destruction, they have to take care of them down the road.
It just wouldn’t do, to tell on yourself if you’re the U.S. military. But the following statistics from the VA tell us part of the truth:
“At the completion of the Gulf War, when we came back to the United States in the fall of 1991, we had a total casualty count of 760: 294 dead, a little over 400 wounded or ill. But the casualty rate now for Gulf War veterans is approximately 30 percent. Of those stationed in the theater, including after the conflict, 221,000 have been awarded disability, according to a Veterans Affairs (VA) report issued September 10, 2002.”
It isn’t friggin rocket science. If you breathed in the desert air in Iraq you were breathing in radioactive bullshit in the combat theatre. The question is how often and for what duration did it take to create lasting effects on a your body. The government however..could give a shit enough to publish the findings of Dr. Doug Rokke and others. This problem is not republican or democratic..All past and current administrations are complicit in hiding the problems and illnesses associated with DU by refusing to admit they exist in any appreciable numbers.

that is definitely some shit, dusty. and with bush essentially declaring war on iran, promising a “nuclear holocaust” in the middle east, are we going to end up encasing the entire region in a tidy little package and burying it? i’m sure that would please the neocons ~ just don’t bury deep enough to interfere with the oil supply.

From nuclear testing we have switched to nuclear power plants that are causing increasingly high rates of cancer, birth defects, and literally an epidemic of diabetes. I have heard it mentioned here before that
We have used weapons containing depleted Uranium and didn’t really think too much about it because I really wasn’t sure. But watching this video totally documented that depleted uranium has not only turned Iraq and Afghanistan into uninhabitable nuclear holocaust for millions of years. Remember the Gulf war Syndrome? Depleted uranium was also used at Tora Bora. I was not aware of that! Cancer among soldiers is rampant!
We are giving our soldiers a death sentence. Why are we not testing our soldiers? You know why!Anyway it is also blowing over the rest of the planet causing Americans, Europeans, and others to die from radiation diseases.
Remember Chernobyl? That too is affecting all of us as it only takes one year to mix globally. This is all something our Governments do not want us to know.
I was really surprised to hear the Queen has a great financial interest in Uranium mines around the world. I was blown away to hear that there were 2 million new cases of Diabetes around the world in one year.
It is not just Britain and the U.S. that do not want the truth known, there is a Global Conspiracy on the issue because other governments are also involved in nuclear programs and they don’t want their citizens to know the real reasons why their children are being born with severe anomalies and why the diabetes rates are soaring worldwide.
This is just amazing! Watch the video and the cities around the world that are least affected will blow you away. Washington DC is the lowest in the country. What a surprise.

They used DU in Fallujah and it is now killing our soldiers, British soldiers, Iraq men, woman and children. It has more than likely spread throughout the region infecting millions of people.
DU is listed as a WMD and outlawed for use as is White Phosphorous which was also used in Fallujah.

Iraqis and Kuwaitis aren’t the only ones showing signs of uranium contamination and sickness. Gulf War veterans, plagued by a variety of illnesses, have been found to have traces of uranium in their blood, feces, urine and semen.
Depleted uranium has a half-life of more than 4 billion years, approximately the age of the Earth. Thousand of acres of land in the Balkans, Kuwait and southern Iraq have been contaminated forever. If George Bush Sr., Dick Cheney, Colin Powell and Bill Clinton are still casting about for a legacy, there’s grim one that will stay around for an eternity.
