vote for your country
September 18, 2007 by Betmo

All over the internet i hear the same refrain- dennis kucinich or chris dodd would make a great president- but he doesn’t have a chance. Why? Aren’t you going to vote for him? If all of us who aren’t voting for clinton or obama or edwards- voted for kucinich or dodd- why wouldn’t they win? We talk about wanting change ad nauseum around the blogosphere- but it won’t come unless we make it happen. Take the time- learn about the candidates- vote for change- and don’t buy into the money machine. We saw it happen in 2006. the rethuglicans out monied the dems in some states by a large margin and got their asses handed to them. If we have to do it to our own party, hey that’s the way democracy works. Don’t just vote for the big three blindly. Get to know all of the other candidates. Dodd’s stand on restoring habeas corpus and the constitution sounds good to me. Kucinich’s voting record has checked out with me for at least a decade- i looked it up. Both men seem honest and intelligent- which is what we NEED!!!! not the fucking faith and family values bullshit that is forced down our throats at every turn. I want a candidate who isn’t afraid to stand up for a woman’s right to choose; a gay couple’s right to marry; the right of this country to have its constitution back and intact; the end to the quagmire in the middle east and a restoration of diplomacy. I am not getting that vibe from the status quo, plastic frontrunners. Take a look- and vote for your country.
Thanks chuck

If I had a dollar for every time someone said they couldn’t vote for XYZ (read that: fringe candidate), because they couldn’t possibly win, I would have enough money to launch an excellent campaign for XYZ candidate AND get them elected.
We have all grown accustomed to the “status quo”…”that’s the way it’s always been” and when it comes to making change, we get weak in the knees and hopes somebody does the ballsy thing in our place (I’m using the “collective” we, of course).
Some of us are sick and tired of the status quo and about now, you would think that these other “fraidy cats” would pull their heads out of their butts and look to other corners because we are way beyond “wake-up” calls, it’s time for a serious “shake-up” call…
I am not a big fan of Dr. Phil, but I could swear that once he said “you have to be the change you wish to see”…well, you want to see change in Washington? Then change your mind about voting for fringe candidates…Hell! BE the fringe candidate!
(I’m starting to feel a Samuel L Jackson moment coming on…I better log off now…)
Thank you. I get so tired of hearing the same crap “why waste you vote on non first tier candidates. I did a post “Why Not Kucinich” to provoke thought and get people away from the MSM picking the next president. I was surprised at the comments who thought anyone below first tier was not worth it. However, there were enough comments to balance.
There are many who don’t want Clinton for a ton of different reasons and they should consider all candidates not just the media picks. The problem is people are lazy and won’t do their own research, they rely on others who they can parrot.
I think the primaries will surprise not only Clinton and Obama but the MSM.
Vote with knowledge and and follow your heart.
