Fran has graciously allowed Sirens to post her tribute to Benazir Bhutto-Dusty

Benazir Bhutto said in her final speech: “the honor of Pakistan is our honor and for this honor we all are ready to sacrifice our lives.”I tried & tried to find the text of Bhutto’s final speech, but to no avail. I did find this interview clip, in which Bhutto talks about what is obstructing democracy in Pakistan.
And finally, winning the *thanks for stating the obvious award” goes to CNN:Pakistan is the only Islamic state with a nuclear arsenal. And Washington has private concerns about the security of those weapons. Those worries will intensify in the wake of Benazir Bhutto’s assassination. Peter Galbraith, of the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation says one thing is certain: It is “not a good idea to have 70 nuclear weapons in the hands of a country that is falling apart.”
Ya think?
Although there is great sorrow in the loss of a life cut short, Benazir Bhutto brought honor to herself, and her country by her endless endurance, and effort to promote democracy.
Believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. This is why right, temporarily defeated, is stronger than evil triumphant.

Bhutto wasn’t perfect, but no politician is. That woman had balls, and I don’t care what anyone says…very few people would risk life and limb to run a country as fucked up as Pakistan.
