Sherlock Holmes Heads for Pakistan

For what purpose, I do not know exactly.
If Busharraf had Bhutto knocked off, he’ll make sure that Scotland Yard doesn’t get the cooperation it would need to figure that out. If Busharraf didn’t knock Bhutto off, how is it Scotland Yard will accomplish what all of our military might can’t, and run down the radicals responsible?
I’m really not sure what this gesture is supposed to do, EXCEPT whitewash Busharraf. And being the tin hatter that I am, this, by itself, makes Busharraf look suspect.
In all likelihood, we’ll never know for sure. There were a lot of people who wanted Benazir dead for their own purposes. From the 12th century Caliphate-types to the modern strongmen (and wannabe strongmen,) Bhutto presented a problem that was inevitably going to be solved in this fashion. Throughout the history of Pakistan, this seems to be the preferred method of dealing with those who make it to the top of the political apparatus. One can be sure that Busharraf, himself, also has a date with destiny, and it’ll probably be sooner rather than later.
In the meantime, the Taliban continues its march across the country, ever-closer to the prized nukes…
President Pervez Musharraf said today he had asked for British help to investigate the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, as authorities pushed back crucial elections to Feb. 18, citing the unrest caused by her killing.
Opponents condemned the postponement but said they would still participate in the vote, which is seen as a key step in Pakistan’s transition to democracy after years of military rule.
“We have decided to take part in the election,” said Asif Ali Zardari, Bhutto’s husband and now the leader of her Pakistan People’s Party. “People should be peaceful and express their anger through their ballots.”
Truth be told, I wouldn’t rule out Benazir’s hubs for this either. He’s got an interesting background, to say the very least. Hell, it wouldn’t even be the first time he’s been accused of complicity in the killing of a Bhutto.

Bhutto’s husband is the playa at this point. He does most of the talking and he loves the spotlight.
The new replacement for Benazir has been picked. That was quick for a party that didn’t know who was even going to run it when she died.
This situation is fluid..which really is a understatement.
