Let’s Talk Taxation
January 8, 2008 by Jolly Roger
Chimpy (and all his Gopper wannabe successors) constantly promise not to ever, ever raise any taxes. Phrases like “it’s YOUR money!” are as common in talking-points speak as “surrender monkey” and “America hater.”
I don’t think that I have to tell the intelligent readers of this blog that only about 2% of all Americans have seen any kind of largesse from Chimpy’s tax “cuts” (and I use the quotes because any cut in taxes not followed by a cut in spending is, in fact, a deferred tax increase.) That big, generous Chimpy “cut” has been eaten up for most people by hikes in State and local taxes, which are a direct result of the States having to do more and more things the Feds used to do. But let’s play a little pretend game here for a minute. Let’s pretend we all got to keep that extra $20 or so a month that Chimpy’s generous tax “cuts” left us with.
Chimpy’s Oedipal fixation on Iraq has been financed by borrowed money, to be sure, because his wingtard base would revolt if anyone dared ask them for ANY form of sacrifice, be it financial or military service. Largely because of Chimpy’s needless war on Iraq, energy prices have gone up for all of us from anywhere between 150% to 200% in the years of the Reign of Error. In addition to that, energy prices will go right on climbing for us because Chimpy’s policy of “borrow borrow borrow” has led to a whole bunch of extra dollars in the currency markets with nothing in the way of goods or services to purchase with them. As anyone who took high-school accounting knows, the more of any kind of a unit there is in circulation, the less the value of each individual unit is. Chimpy’s refusal to ask any form of sacrifice for this war that he and his wingtard base all scream is so important have led to both a “fear premium” on every barrel of oil AND a devaluation of the US currency, which adds still MORE to the cost of things like gasoline, diesel fuel, and heating oil. That cost has been marching right through all of the things we use in our everyday lives, as producers and distributors have to charge more for their wares because of the increased costs of production, transportation, and importation.
That pretend $20 you don’t really have got eaten up, and then some, by one trip to the gas station, and the expenses you face there are directly attibutable to Chimpy’s warmongering and fiscal policies. If you are a suburbanite who has to commute to work, you know this. As a matter of fact, the lifestyle you are living has been destroyed by Chimpy, although it is going to take a little while for this to register-the sprawl of America is receding slowly now, but will pick up in tempo as our currency and energy problems get exacerbated. Your milk, and bread, and cheese, are all sharply more expensive now than they were a few years ago, and AGAIN this expense can be laid right at the feet of the moronic monkey.
Look at what you are shelling out that you can trace STRAIGHT BACK to Chimpy. How many de facto TAXES has he imposed on YOU in the last few years? And aren’t they all incredibly MORE expensive than the tax rate you were paying in Clinton’s last year in office? How can these conservotard politicians argue with a straight face that Chimpy’s fiscal policies have been anything but a DISASTER for lower and middle-income America? A balanced Federal budget, at the very least, would have slowed the devaluation of the currency down a lot. I don’t know about you, but they could have had kept my $20 if it meant that every damn time I go to the grocery I wasn’t going to get strong-armed.
I’ve decided, for the sake of this post, to limit my observations on the “low” taxes in the Chimperial era to those things that we can identify immediately as being the direct result of the moronic monkey’s policies. There are many more de facto taxes you are paying that can be tied back to Chimpy’s love of subsidizing the export of jobs from America-things like increased medical insurance premiums, as fewer and fewer of us continue to be covered by medical insurance due to the jobs with benefits that have fled the country over the last few years. Maybe I’ll open that can of worms next time.
And yet….. the Goppers are still crying about a “death tax” that only people like Paris Hilton have to pay. And the dem candidates seem scared to death to try to educate Americans on what “borrow and borrow some more” policies do to our currency, and what that means for the things we have to import-like oil. This whole “taxes BAD!!!” mantra the Goppers have fed Americans has to be countered somewhere, by someone, and it needs to be done real soon. We can’t really afford to wait a hell of a lot longer. We’re already in a position where the heirs of Mao can bring us to a screeching halt by snapping shut their purses. Is this what Chimpy means when he talks about “protecting” America?
