our very own spadoman

February 25, 2008 by Betmo

walkers as many of you know, spadoman is participating in the longest walk and is on hiatus indefinitely. mrs. spadoman emailed me to give me the head’s up on this breaking story out of bakersfield…

“We’re walking for all these good causes, fighting heart disease and diabetes and other illnesses. We’re walking for peace and justice,” said Joseph Spado, who is involved with the effort.

So glad to get an update. I was wondering how many were on the walk & the web site for the walk itself has lots of beautiful graphics.

I love the photo on the left- Woman & child w flag.
Spado & I had long conversations about the “Red Path”, and how he really relates to the Native ways, and culture. Me too.

I just dread the way the White Man government has neglected, abused, and mistreated the Native tribes.
Still the natives have held on to their spiritual connection with the land, and although impoverished financially, are wealthy with spirituality, and honor.
I hope this turns out to be a meaningful journey for all doing the walk.
