A vote for Hillary was a vote for McCain

I wish that the Hilary supporters in this country would realize that their candidate comes with a 48 to 52 negative approval rating. Sadly, however, the obsessive old white women who so obsessively continue to support her are so eager to run a woman–ANY WOMAN–for President that they haven’t bothered to ask the all important question: Is she the right woman at the right time? Certainly the time is right, but this is clearly the wrong candidate. For all intents and purposes, Hilary leaves the impression that the only thing that matters at any given time is Hilary; that she is obsessed with power and that the only thing she holds precious is herself. Now I admit, that could only be the way she comes off. Those who know her well say that she is one of the warmest and most caring people you could ever hope to find. I only wish that side of her nature would come through on the campaign trail. From what I’ve seen, however she presents a facade which suggests that she is cold, manipulative, and addicted to power.

That said there are very real reasons to distrust Hilary Clinton. Harry S. Truman once suggested that if you run a real liberal against a conservative the real liberal will almost invariably win. Likewise, if you run a moderate or a moderate conservative as a liberal the real conservative will almost invariably win, and we are now dealing with the latter example. We need to remember that Bill and Hillary are products of the Democratic Leadership Convention, the DLC which is little more than a debating society for Conservative, corporatist “Democrats.” In other words they aren’t Democrats at all; they are Lite Republicans and they have done more to split and weaken the Democratic Party than any sex or financial scandal.

For all intents and purposes the Clinton’s behaved like Lite Republicans during Bill’s two term administration. Hilary was so beholden to corporate America that she couldn’t even get a decent health care bill though a Democratic Congress. And when the Republicans took control in 1994 bill moved to the center right, a place where we suspect that he wanted to be from the beginning. He and Hilary worked as a team, pushing trade agreements like NAFTA which initiated the flow of foreign jobs over seas. The ended welfare as we know it and replaced it with a bastard of a system that made life even more difficult for Black Americans and low income people in general. In so many ways, from the exploitation of Hispanic Workers by American business, to their casual disdain for American minorities the Clintons revealed themselves as closet, country club Republicans. Moderate on Social issues but right of center on economic issues. As for Hilary, she DID in fact vote for the Bush war in Iraq and she has yet to offer a satisfactory explanation as to what she was thinking about, much less what she was thinking with.

Moreover the current campaign has revealed Mrs. Clinton’s nasty streak. My step son explains that politics is war without bullets, and I suppose he’s right, but if that’s the case then Hilary must be using the rhetorical equivalent of a bazooka or a rapid fire machine gun. She routinely ridicules Obama’s eloquence and optimism, but look at Hilary. There isn’t an eloquent bone in her body. Her speeches bounce back and forth between the shrill and the mundane, and you come away wondering what exactly you just experienced.

And now the bad news. The old guard feminists, people with lower educational standards, and a majority of the Hispanic constituency, by giving Texas and Ohio to Senator Clinton, have virtually guaranteed another four years of Republican Presidential rule. And if I were them I would stat to worry, because if they think John McCain and is Republican toadies are going to embrace women’s rights and the rights of Hispanic workers, they have another thing coming. As a matter of fact, with such a polarizing presidential candidate like Senator Clinton at the top of the Democratic ticket I would seriously worry about Republican gains in both, the House and Senate.

What else can I say except, “Hillary, you have screwed us over once too often”.
