American soldiers killed in Iraq hits the 4000 mark

March 23, 2008 by Dusty

Perhaps it shouldn’t bother me as much as it does, but I cried when I saw it in my news alert this evening:

U.S. death toll in Iraq reaches 4,000
Grim milestone reached when IED kills 4 U.S. soldiers in Baghdad

Grim doesn’t even begin to cover it folks. We should never of been there. Our soldiers should be home with their families watching their children hunt for Easter eggs, or spending time with loved ones.

I have no more words to describe my pain and my anger.

This is hard to read because during my regular chat time with my husband, we were suddenly cut off. Reading news like this, plus some of the disturbing things he has been hinting at, keeps me up at night. I won’t be able to rest until I hear from him again. I know that, in military familial circles, “no news is good news”, but that doesn’t make me feel any better.

God Dez, I am so horribly sad, but I have no one over there. Your pain I can not know..but my heart is heavy tonight with the knowledge that this fucking war will grind on and swallow more lives, both American and Iraqi.

A Cyber hug to you Dez, wishing I could take your pain away and transfer it to the people responsible..a thousand times worse than it is for you.

Truly sickening. Enough to break your heart.
