history repeats itself

ancient historylike it or not- human nature doesn’t change. it isn’t that it isn’t capable of change- it just doesn’t. anyone who has read any history- whether it be american or global- sizes up our current situation fairly quickly. it is one reason that words like ‘fascism’ and ‘nazism’ are bandied about. my thought is- this particular crew had history as their oyster- they have picked and chosen the worst components of all of the ‘isms’ and rolled them into a bastardized form of capitalism i like to call a corporatocracy. what folks don’t realize- they are just tools and are being used. americans tend to be reactionary folk. easily manipulated comes to mind also. we aren’t the world’s deepest thinkers and we have always been people of action- moving, moving, moving- which is probably how new york got the moniker ‘city that doesn’t sleep’- but i digress. i don’t really have much to say these days as i read words written by other americans. not the politicians- i checked out on that one. many folks are throwing terms around like ‘country falling into an abyss’ and there’s the matter of something like 81 % of the country believes this country is headed in the wrong direction- to which a firm, smirky ’so?’ was the response. how can i say that these folks are wrong? i can’t. they aren’t. the world has ridden out regimes before- this country revolted once against a monarch and has assisted other countries in their fight as well (to what end i now question but i will save that for another time). this century’s greatest single issue is global climate change. we probably have enough oil- but as that’s part of the bigger problem- along with coal- it’s all pretty moot. i guess i just wasn’t expecting things to happen quite so quickly- food and water shortages were not part of the msm’s news array and we have all been kept in the dark as to how bad the state of the world truly is.

we don’t have what we need to really make changes- political will- and i doubt that much would happen even if we had 200 dennis kucinich’s in congress and elsewhere. the system is too entrenched and we are too much a part of the matrix to want the full truth. the small band of us who see- who know- will not be able to sway the masses. and as unethical as it sounds- perhaps we shouldn’t. i say that we live out our lives in the best way we can fully aware of what is going to happen and being prepared (or as prepared as we can) as we continue to pursue our happiness. i will be 37 years old and never in my lifetime did i ever expect to live through these times. but i bet the ancient romans felt the same way.

Betmo, I think people are tired of being labeled as unpatriotic and terrorist-loving fools every time they speak out. Its the Big Brotha syndrome at work and it works very well. It silences dissent or common sense that doesn’t go along with the party faithful. I think you have joined Dark Wraith and myself as Political Nihilists:

I had a fight today with a guy who does work for me that thinks everything is fine. Some people you will never wake up. If the shit hit the fan tomorrow I am alright. I believe you have the article on making your own potable water, Just be prepared have the knowledge when needed. Don’t worry be HAPPY!

Perhaps our little experiment in a Republic has finally failed. For the last 30 years, our nation has focused on the lowest common denominator, rather than trying to raise the bar. Why do we hate critical thinking so deeply?

Or, perhaps everything really IS fine and dandy, and those of us who are cursed with the ability to think and examine are living in a hell on earth? I dunno.

Vale of tears, wasn’t it? That’s how the world has always been described so what’s new?

Perhaps it’s time for humans to checkout. We’ve left our mark, done enough damage to the world to last many millenia, haven’t we?

Fact is that if we all disappeared from the face of the world today we wouldn’t be missed at all (well, only by a few pampered pets who would probably end up much healthier anyway).

Let’s face it: we are an abject failure as a species! Amen.

well, i don’t mean to sound like a fatalist- i try to be heavy on the realism. i don’t see humans pulling out of this one being an intact planet as we have been. there are always a few survivors of some sort to evolve- so who knows? i never saw people as superior to other species on the planet anyway- that’s a religious thing. so- if we cause the extinction of other species- i can’t say that i will be sorry if we go the same way.

dusty- i am in great company then :)
