The Real John McCain
April 28, 2008 by Donatra
So you think you know John McCain? Well, friends and neighbors the chances are that you don’t. I have no doubt that McCain and his handlers have placed a lot of time and effort in polishing is reputation and in keeping him from erupting in the public square, but the truth of the matter is that John McCain is a viscerally angry individual with a short temper who acts first and thinks later. A genuine misanthrope, he is well liked by his followers who don’t know him, but has few friends among the people who know him best. And for good reason.
As a child he used to hold his breath until he passed out
As a School boy his nickname was McNasty.
His out bursts of temper cannot be attributed to his years as a prisoner of war during the Vietnam War. Indeed, he was a part of a 20 year study during which time it was determined that his temper almost certainly existed before he was held prisoner. This study, incidentally made him one of the most studied politicians in the history of the American political system.
Of him, fellow Republican Senator Bob Smith of New Hampshire once said: “I have witnessed incidents where he has used profanity at colleagues and exploded at colleagues…He would disagree about something and then explode. It was incidents of irrational behavior. We’ve all had incidents where we have gotten angry, but I’ve never seen anyone act like that.”
Of his behavior during the 2000 primary, Republican Representative John LeBoutillier said, “People who disagree with him get the f— you.”
In 1992, after his wife teased him in public about his hair loss, McCain lost his temper, referring to his wife as a trollop and then continuing the diatribe until he used the most offensive word one can use against women, the obscene and derogatory “C” word.
Of Asians McCain once quipped “I hate the g–ks.”
Sadly there are many additional examples of McCain’s arrogance, uncontrolled anger, and nastiness. And while I am certain that McCain’s supporters will try to write these and other incidents off as normal flashes of temper, the truth of the matter is that McCain is the worst kind of politician. A bully and a thug, he likes to dish it out but he doesn’t know how to take it.
When we elected George W. Bush in 2000 we elected another president who presented a friendly, outgoing image but who quickly revealed himself as an aggressive warmonger who acted on impulse with little or no thought to the consequences of his actions. Additionally, McCain has promised to continue the ongoing invasion and occupation of Iraq, acting in the same manner as George W. Bush. They may have disagreed over the number of troops but in other aspects they were little more than warmongering clones.
We’ve seen it all before. We’ve seen how W’s handlers kept him under control during the election only to watch on in dismay while the properly handled stooge devolved into a spoiled, foul-tempered brat after he took office. And I wouldn’t be surprised to learn if McCain were cut from the same anal retentive cloth.
We’ve had enough presidents who are unable to control their negative impulses. And to be honest it’s a dangerous trend. The President of the United States is the most powerful individual on the face of the earth. Do we really want an angry, impulsive individual in control of the United States war machine? I don’t. And I would go so far as to suggest that a man who would verbally assault his wife in the public arena can’t be trusted with warships, soldiers, and nuclear warheads.
