My daughter and granddaughter called today to wish me a Happy Mommy's Day. Not my son, although I am at work, so he may have called me at home and gotten my voice mail. However, it is a day, like any other day. Each day is worthy of celebration, believe it or not. Each day that voices speak out in truth is worthy of celebration. Happy Mommy's Day!

Dear Dusty: Kids don't always realize/appreciate all that you have done- or understand it is a blessing to have a family. Our family did not grow up in any kind of "Ward & June Cleaver" setting where Mom was home in an apron & high heels & Dad was at his desk in the study. Nowhere even close to that!
I was in a room full of people at some seminar & the facilitator asked "How many people come from a dysfunctional family?" Looked like 98% of the people raised their hands. We all have trials & tribulations & changes we go through-- but that is the interesting thing about family, you are forced to be together & work things out- at least until you are of age to bail.

My family was all over the map with various issues, but we've morphed into some kind of functioning unit.
Still I find the 2000 mile buffer works well, and yesterday my Mom said she can complain to me & I get things done for her. I told her I am not sure if that arrangement is good or bad- and she said it is definately good *for her*.... then there was an awkward silence. I think I have taken on the role of filter/ interpreter. She conveys her emotions & needs, I condense it into a list or line items my Sister can run with.
Life is short & it's great when people can find what works to get along. I hope your people come through for you today- although I do think there is a conspiracy going on in the greeting card industry.

Yesterday, I was treated to high tea at the 1888 Victorian house, pictured in the post . So cool to go back in time. We got to go all the way up to the 3rd story attic. Wow!

So hats off to Moms everywhere, from cutting teeth to whooping cough, Mom's are there through thick & thin and deserve kudos.

Hey! Some people are Mother's of Blogs, who care for all the posting children- a bouquet of thanks for that labor of love. ; >

THis is a very nice tribute to us Mommies :)

I am away from home this weekend and I am wondering if the ball and chain, and most of all...my only child...will call me to wish me a Happy Mommy's Day.

Probably not, so I will chuck it up to this whole thing is a gimmick by the greeting card industry. ;)

Hope you have a good day Fran, thank you for all your wonderful thoughts put into print here at Sirens.
