All of whom are women. From the VOA writeup:

Police in the Nepalese capital of Kathmandu say they have detained more than 560 Tibetan protesters Sunday, all of them women.

It was the all female demonstration against China’s crackdown in Tibet since violence erupted in the Tibetan capital of Lhasa in March.

Since then, Tibetan exiles have taken part in anti-China protests nearly every day. Nepal is home to about 20,000 Tibetan refugees.

Power to the people…Buddha please keep them safe.

This situation is heartbreaking. A simple protest could land a person in jail for 20 years in China. I hope Nepal is not adopting the same practices. In China many prisoners die from “falling down stairs” and other apartheid type ailments- in other words- they are killed in prison, but listed in a variety of circumstances as cause of death.

First sentences since Tibet protests began: monks to serve life, 20 years
The Chinese authorities have announced the first sentences of Tibetans, ranging from three years to life, since the protests and unrest began on the Tibetan plateau on March 10. Thirty sentences were handed down yesterday in connection with the riots in Lhasa on March 14, according to a Xinhua report, citing the Intermediate People’s Court of Lhasa. One monk was sentenced to life, and two others to 20 years.
