The Party of Change…The Republicans????

May 18, 2008 by Dusty

Crooks and Liars has the video up.

This morning Boehner, the idiot in charge of the elected Republicans actually tried to play the ‘change’ card on This Week on ABC. I caught it as I was doing something around the house and was waiting for the Celtics/Cav’s game to start. I stopped and let my jaw hit the floor as I listened to his logic:

STEPHANOPOULOS: Shouldn’t you have seen that coming?

BOEHNER: Listen, I could have used an antidepressant last week, I can tell you. But that’s got nothing to do with the job that we have to do to show the American people that we can deliver a real change here in Washington. And I think our members and our candidates are going to be prepared, this fall, to do just that.

STEPHANOPOULOS: But how do you do it, then? You’ve got Democratic majorities in both the House and the Senate. President Bush — you’ve been opposed to him on the farm bill. It doesn’t seem like the issues that you’re talking about, right now, that he’s going to have the kind of…

(CROSSTALK)

BOEHNER: George, he’s not on the ballot.

BOEHNER: You want to keep looking in the past. We need to look ahead. John McCain…

STEPHANOPOULOS: So President Bush is the past.

BOEHNER: … appeals to almost all Republicans, a broad swath of independents and conservative Democrats. John McCain at the top of the ticket will help us. But we also have to show as Republicans in Congress that we can really deliver for the American people.

STEPHANOPOULOS: But how do you do that?

BOEHNER: We’ve got to work hard. And when my members want to moan and groan, I understand it. The things haven’t been real happy for them, losing three special elections. But we all have to look in the mirror. We all have to decide, what are we going to do today, in order to show the American people that we’re serious about doing the
kinds of things that…

STEPHANOPOULOS: And what’s the number one thing you’ll do coming out of that meeting on Tuesday, to show that the Republican caucus in the House has changed?

BOEHNER: I think what we’ve got to do Tuesday and Wednesday is to deliver our energy policy. Here’s what we would do if the American people would honor us with the majority. We’re going to deliver a real energy policy that will reduce gas prices.

I think this bullshit was addressed by Jon Stewart this week..and it wasn’t pretty then, and its laughable now. Just how stupid does the Republican party think the American people are?

Wait….they did elect George Bush twice…

I’m not convinced the people did elect GW twice….the supreme court decided the first election, while the country hung in a chad in Florida, and Diebold (electronic easy to tamper with) electronic voting machines decided who the decider would be the 2nd time.
    In my humble opinion, anyway.

Otherwise- yea it is quite the conundrum– Our Rep Senator Smith is trying to say vote for him (served 2 terms) for change.
I snapped my head around, thinking HUH??? How does more of the same equate to change????
Change is Obama’s campaign buzzword, so the bandwagon is latching on. It works for Obama, maybe it will work for them.
Truth is we have not seen positive change in 8 LONG years.

I agree that Diebold might of elected Georgie the second time around..and Gore fucked up the first time by involving the Supreme’s.

Jon Stewart’s little shtick on this earlier in the week was hilarious:

I am watching the game but it is half time. Watched while I was working, the Red Sos Game or should I say listened too.
Anyway they’re ass holes they will change nothing but their line of lies people will believe. They will not sway from their mis agenda. We can not allow them to happen again if we can prevent any growing number of distasteful underhanded scenarios. Okay games on, 5 points gotta go!

It was Bush who took the deciding to the Supreme Court wasn’t it? There were a few wranglings that made it to court….. but I thought in the end, Bush took it to the Supremes. ??? Tried to find that info on the web, to no avail.
