Hillary will suspend campaign Friday and endorse Obama
June 4, 2008 by Dusty
This news per the NYT and CNN.
Plus, MSNBC broke into Tweety’s show with it. More as it develops.
Our long nightmare may be over…snark button on full strength.
Update: The WSJ is reporting the dealbreaker was this for the Veep:
But close advisers to Sen. Obama signaled an Obama-Clinton ticket was highly unlikely. People in both camps cited what several called “a deal-breaker” — Bill Clinton may balk at releasing records of his business dealings and big donors to his presidential library.

I have one question? What is Clinton waiting on? Why hasn’t she endorsed Obama? Why Saturday? Is she waiting for more delegates to come from somewhere else? Is there another state that has had a primary? If she was so willing to support Obama, she should have conceded Tuesday night or the following day. I believe she is showing defiance and that is not a good sign to the American people, me being one of them. I have witnessed an historical campaign from both Obama and Clinton. I am one of those Americans that were pulled into politics because of their campaigns. They definitely brought politics to my dinner table. On the other hand Clinton as VP is a bad idea. They beat each other up for over 5 solid months in a rough campaign and I just believe Clinton will be too outspoken and will cause a rift in the White House. I also believe that the feud between the two will take place behind closed doors at first but will eventually spill out into the public view and if the White House is unified the country will not be too far behnd.
She wanted every vote counted and it is. Did you expect her to come out last night with a kumbaya moment?
I didn’t. She has been grasping at straws for months now. It took an intervention by her closest supporters today to get her to see the writing on the wall.
Hey, at least she isn’t waiting until August!
Amen! Hillary’s hesitation does smack of resentment, but then again– who cares? The train has left the station!!!
Just heard a quote from President Jimmy Carter- saying he thinks it would be “the worst mistake” to have Clinton for VP.
Wow! No holding back.
Clinton is still Clinton & she comes with baggage & she is a part of the old regime & dynasty.
I favor Obama starting fresh with a team of his choice.
Interestingly, Caroline Kennedy is one of the team who is helping select the VP.
It’s not a bicker– he’s won & it’s his choice
The media is cramming the issue down our throats, and Obama said he is taking his time & has a committee to help choose. Early on Obama has no problem telling MSM to back off, in a polite way.
He will have plenty of opportunity to hone that skill.
I just hope her consession speech is not full of I/me/my in a kind of I’ll win next time, my little pretty, kind of tone.
frans last blog post..CONGRATULATIONS SENATOR OBAMA!
With all the joy we felt today, this nagging voice resounded in our ears. That is the annoying sound of Senator Hillary Clinton. It would be so perfect to finally have her and Bill out of the picture. Most people I spoke to today say the same. No to VP. We believe Barack Obama is too smart to make that mistake. He is a man of Change and the Clintons can never be a part of his plan. Their game plan has always been nasty. We are sick and tired of nasty politics. That is why the country picked this man of honor and we put our trust in him.
Hello Delores and thank you for your thoughts on this issue.
I have never harbored ill will towards the Clinton’s but I am mighty glad they won’t be occupying the West Wing again anytime soon.
I just hope Obama can deliver…or we are all going to feel so duped.
I hope Hillary takes the example of Ted Kennedy to heart after his defeat in his presidential bid. Teddy went back to the senate and got to work to make real changes for America, way more than he could have done as president for a term or two. He and Senator Clinton have much in common, a desire to be of service to the American people. She should remain in the Senate where she can be of real service.
I agree Randy! I think she would be a bigger force in the Senate, taking Harry Reid’s job would be perfect. She knows how to twist arms, she is determined and we need someone that has more cajones than Harry leading the Senate.
Thank you for stopping and giving us your thoughts on this.
I would never vote for this man and his nasty supporters who have done nothing, but trashing the Clintons.
I agree with you all…let him do it alone! As a supporter of Hillary, I would not want to be affiliated with this trash talk anyway!!
Joey —
Each time I viewed Obama, he NEVER had a harsh word to say about Hillary - EVER! Quite the opposite — he always had gracious words to speak about her. What in the world are you talking about? Hillary is the nastiest thing that has ever come out of Washington! Her divisive, destructive mouth is the reason she lost the election! She had the nerve to attempt to belittle him stating that he was not qualified to be President … but oh, he could be her VP when she’s elected. How outrageous! She made this statement at a time when he had won more states, delegates, and votes than she had!! She remarked that only she and McCain were qualified for the office of President. Now… please tell me when did Barack Obama ever trash the Clintons?
Hillary is a devisive little snake that has absolutely no intention on bringing the Democratic party together. Her only purpose is herself. The scriptures state, “Pride goes before a fall.” Her pride definitely led to her losing the Democratic nomination.
Joey, I hate to break it to you, but Hillary led the charge in negative campaigning. She was on point and so was her husband more times than naught.
Ms. Walker, Obama was no saint either. He was just a little more subtle about it. But his surrogates could get ugly and they did on many occasions.
Since I am not pro either of them, I think my pov is a little more honest..and it doesn’t smell like roses in either camp.

What does it mean to suspend her campaign? She must have an angle yet doesn’t she realize that once she endorses Obama she is even more finished than she is now?
Suspend? Does that mean put on hold to be resumed at a later date? Obama won on Tues and since then the news has all been about what Hillary didn’t do, what will Hillary do or say, what does Hillary want. Even in losing she has managed to take the center stage. Brilliant. This should tell Obama what it would be like if she were the VP.
Mississippi is obama country!!! hrc and her isreal lobbie have ruined this great event in american history. both of them want to force obama to accept there platform. hrc disrespected every black person in america. in this moment in history it was all about her. all those black politician will pay for their support of hrc. the dem party stuck with the clinton’s during their time in the white house and beyond. when it came time to support the party, they choose themselves. the clinton’s are not the party, in the coming week you will see a new party (CLINTON’S LESS) obama is not running for pres of isreal, they dont support us we support them. they are a welfare state 10 bil a year. 67% of america want’s that to end. the isreal lobbie is anti-usa and at all cost support isral, even if it means the detriment of america. lieberman had his chance and the american people said no, not obama but, america. we beat the clinton’s and we will defeat the isreal lobbie.
In a democracy, why should Senator Clinton’s loyalties to the democratic party transcend her loyalties to the 18 million Americans who voted for her? In a democracy, why should the self interest of a few hundred party delegates transcend 18 million popular votes? Although Senator Clinton is being made out to be the spoiler, I see the DNC as the spoiler of democracy … that’s why I’m a democrat of 40 years, who will be voting for McCain in November.
Lee,
Your willing to cut off your nose to spite your face?
More power to ya, but its the stupidest thing I have ever heard..for someone that purports to be a supporter of Hillary voting for another four years of BushCo-style bs in the whitehouse.
