Tim Russert has died..
June 13, 2008 by Dusty
He collapsed at work today. From MSNBC:
Russert was recording voiceovers for Sunday’s “Meet the Press” program when he collapsed, the network said. No details were immediately available.
Russert, the recipient of 48 honorary doctorates, took over the helm of “Meet the Press” in December 1991. Now in its 60th year, “Meet the Press” is the longest-running program in the history of television.
In 2008, Time Magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world.
Timothy John Russert Jr. was born in Buffalo, N.Y., on May 7, 1950. He was a graduate of Canisius High School, John Carroll University and the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. He was a member of the bar in New York and the District of Columbia.
Russert is survived by his wife, Maureen Orth, a writer for Vanity Fair magazine, and a son, Luke.He is also survived by his father whom he affectionally called..Big Russ. He also wrote a book entitled Big Russ and Me.

I just put something up on my blog - it is shocking. He was a class act, and a young man: only 58.
Diva Joods last blog post..Tim Russert dead at 58
Yep..just a few years older than I Diva..although he made me mad during this election season, he was a good interviewer many times.

well this is an unpopular view, but fuck me, iowa is under fucking water and there’s nothing about that. just hours and hours of tim russert. and as for tim russert, it is a terrible thing for anyone to die and i feel for his family and the friends who knew and loved him.
but tim russert? dick cheney’s go-to guy for disseminating whitehouse propaganda? the one who said all conversations with public figures were “off the record” unless they gave him the okay? wtf?
over 4,000 dead americans and a million iraqis: the media says “oh well.”
tim russert dies: the media is in having a fucking conniption about it.
i was going to say i’m sorry for saying all of this but i’m not. i’m sad for his family. it’s a shame he was only 58. but he never questioned the administration’s decisions on iraq, he just dutifully reported the talking points. he bears some responsibility for that and so i do not grieve for the loss of the great man. his death is a shame, but there’s a lot of shameful happenings in the world today, like reporters selling out the american people.
bigassbelles last blog post..goodbye mac
Belle, I too was not enamored with Russert during this war era, which is why I just cut and pasted the MSNBC article about him. I tried not to slam the man in death. Its something about speaking ill of the dead for me I guess, but I agree with you on all your points m’dear..thanks for bringing it up.
Friggin MSNBC has done nothing all day but eulogize him as if nothing else happened in the world today.

I feel sorry for his family; but politics and Washington, DC are a dirty business. Sounds real “fishy” to me. I wonder if there will be an autopsy? If there is, I wonder if it will be similar to Vince Foster’s????

exactly. i know they are devastated. it’s a terrible shock and i am so sad for his family and friends. but all night long while iowa drowns. it just seems too much.
