R.I.P Bozo
July 9, 2008 by Fran
Larry Harmon, who portrayed Bozo the clown for more than half a century died Thursday at the age of 83. It was Larry Harmon that made the character of Bozo the clown internationally famous. As popularity grew among children and adults, TV stations around the country started licensing the character and hired their own actors to be local Bozos.
I grew up with Bozo the Clown. Got to attend the live show one time. It was a trampoline act on the show that inspired my Sister & I to use an old bed on the back porch as our trampoline. Our joyful glee ended abruptly when the old wood slats gave way & the mattress & box spring crashed through the frame, to the ground. We knew we were in trouble, but yet, we could not stop laughing!
No one can quite fill Bozo’s shoes– so perhaps they should be retired?
Other clowns have since surfaced….. even tried disappearing justice off the table magic acts (Pelosi the Clown).
Entire families of clowns have tried to replicate the talents of the original Bozo—but they have failed with their disappearing Constitution schtick. Some acts are so bad, they should be outlawed.

Well, there’s Laura Clown and Babs Clown and Jenna and Not Jenna Clown - sans makeup - but they all should be outlawed.
