<description>We are mired in the biggest muck - quite terrifying when you think back at all the examples we've had about this kind of war. It's funny, back when I was a freshman in high school, 1962, President Kennedy sent advisors to Vietnam - and there I was, a little bit of a shy, gawky teen, who only wanted to paint and write stories - I told all my friends we should not be doing that, going into Vietnam. Everyone thought I was some kind of Trotskyite. I was opposed to that war before it became a war; and I am not a pacifist - there are times when force does become necessary - fighting Germany in WWII, that was necessary. Wars of choice - such as Nam, or Iraq, or Afghanistan - those are wrong under every concievable thread of reasoning. War should not be a choice, like "should I buy this car, or a new house, or get a dog?"
