Let Us Understand What Is Happening Here

I’ve been away for awhile. There are a lot of reasons for that, but the principal reason is that I have decided to no longer cross-post. I want to try to give something fresh up to every site I participate at, or at least a fresh approach. I also took a week away from all sources of news, so I’ve been another week getting back into things. I may have had the right idea when I shut myself off-but I digress…

The headlines are screaming about every new McCavein ad. Blogs (like this one, and Reconstitution, and thousands of others of all political stripes) are talking about the ads. News sources are talking about the controversies McCavein is generating with big, screaming headlines. Let us look at one such headline from today, from a non-MSM source.

Obama-McCain race turns toxic

The White House contest between Barack Obama and John McCain took one of its nastiest lurches yet Thursday as the campaign air filled with accusations of race-baiting and gutter politics.

Top campaign issues such as the economy and the Iraq war took a back-seat, as the Republican McCain responded with fury to Obama’s claims that his opponents would exploit his exotic name and appearance for electoral gain.

The Democrat in turn said McCain, his campaign reinforced by proteges of President George W. Bush’s long-time aide Karl Rove, was stooping to the “low road” of politics with a slew of character attacks.

“Barack Obama has played the race card, and he played it from the bottom of the deck. It’s divisive, negative, shameful and wrong,” said McCain’s campaign manager Rick Davis in a statement.

Asked if Davis’s criticism was fair, McCain told CNN: “I’m sorry to say that it is. It’s legitimate.

“There’s no place in this campaign for that. There’s no place for it and we shouldn’t be doing it,” the Arizona senator said at a stop in Wisconsin.

You know, as I know, that McCavein’s assertions are Grade-A, unadulterated bullshit. He’s tried every way he can think of lately to remind all those polite white people that Barack Obama is a scary dark guy who hates his country, hates soldiers, and loves to be the center of attention. As a Reconstitution commenter said today, “The subliminal message of Team McCain’s ‘presumptious’ splooge is ‘Obama is an uppity n***** looking to f** your white daughters’, they just don’t come out and say it. I wish they would. Eventually they will.” This commenter was, of course, exactly right; if Johnny doesn’t do it himself, his helpers Limbaugh, Hannity, C**tler, and Savage will. They’ve all but done so already.

We know that all of this is true. We know that McCavein has to turn Obama into a 2008 version of Willie Horton to have any chance at all of winning. We also know that McCavein has taken guys into his camp that know exactly how to do this, because those very guys did precisely this to JOHNNY, himself, back in 2000. What may be less obvious is exactly HOW Johnny will do it.

Does anyone really think that any of Johnny’s despicable, juvenile, hateful ads have risen to the status of news items? Of course they haven’t; Johnny’s electronic vomit amounts to a cruder version of schoolyard taunts. They have little to no basis in fact, and they deserve to be treated with contempt and ignored by any legitimate news organization (and if you clicked the link, you will note that the AFP did not link to any of Johnny’s despicable tripe.) Our MSM, however, takes every new McCavein intestinal discharge and replays it, over and over, in as many prime-time slots as they can. Since these idiotic pieces of spew are certainly not anything even remotely resembling legitimate news, why would the MSM spend so much time on them?

The answer to that question is a simple one. The MSM, which has vested itself in Johnny every bit as much as it vested itself in the moronic monkey in 2000 and 2004, is doing everything in its power to give Johnny all the free airtime for his attack ads that he could possibly want. They are delivering every new Johnny ad free of charge in some sweet, prime-time slots. Barack Obama, even after foregoing public campaign financing, doesn’t have nearly enough money to blanket the country with HIS ads in the way that the MSM is doing with Johnny’s spew. I expect that the nastier that Johnny gets, the more eager our mainstream media will be to display his hatred, his ignorance, and his subliminal racism to as many screens as they can possibly get it on. They have almost removed even the pretense of balance as they have raced to amplify every lie that Johnny tells, as well as covering up as many of McCavein’s displays of befuddlement as they possibly can. With Katie Couric in his corner, Johnny doesn’t NEED the huge war chest. He’ll get all the airtime Barack can buy, and then some.

    Good morning, Jolly Roger.

While the data concerning the MSM’s lean, rightward, is certainly applicable here, I agree with other sources who point out that, as McCain stumbles over his eye-talian loafers daily, the News honchos know that if this gets too lopsided, nobody’s gonna watch their version of Tucson weather forecasts. (”Sunny and warm all week; Back to you, Toots!”) So, whatever they can dredge up to boost McCain’s image, and thus a pretend horserace, that’s the new news meme.

Regardless of the veracity of this line of thought, you are definitely right on about where their loyalties lie. And lie. And still more loyalty.

Hey, I wonder if McCain’s campaign director has made sure that their ads featuring McCain will under no circumstances be shown within 6 hours of a Depends commercial? Inquiring minds…are sick bastidges.

trog, I have to disagree. This is about a lot more than ratings. If ratings were the name of the game, then Katie Couric would have been mentioning McCavein’s Anbar mistake instead of editing it out and replacing the answer. McCouric is a firm McCavein supporter, as are the rest of the MSM nightly “news” heads.

Ooooh…so, the flag’s been hoisted, eh? hehe.

My point was that as McCain shows his lack of leadership qualities, less people will watch the news for campaign info; Why bother if it’s gonna be a blowout? I haven’t seen any info about it, but perhaps when Clinton was so comfortably ahead of Dole in ‘96, the News viewer numbers were down, due to lack of interest in the campaign?

Hypothetical of course; We’d need a Dem losing overwhelmingly to a Republic to test this!

McCain’s definitely getting a lot o’ bang for the buck. I think it was on Olberman the other night where it was said the Britainy Spears/Paris Hilton laugher was only aired six times, but has been shown in a constant Rev-Wright-like loop ever since. In this way, negative ads are proving to be much more effective than the ol’ Willie Hortons that you actually had to buy time for.

I disagree that we’re seeing the bottom of the barrell being scraped, though. This is the cream of the “splooge”(LOL!) barrell. The bottom will be mined, under the scrapings, later until it’s razor-thin by November.

    Good morning, robb.

This has all been calculated by McCain’s new ‘Dream Team’ of strategists. The really despicable part is how the “moderate” pundits are echoing the message for McCain. At least the talking heads at Fox are semi-honest in their bias. Halperin and Co. are scummy assholes who are living in so rarefied a state that they think middle class is making $200,000 a year. I agree with Glenn Greenwald about them; They’ve really dragged us to the right, all the better for the taxes on their vacation homes.

Hehe, ‘Dream Team’, as in the movie of the same name, indeed.

On the McNeil News Hour the other night, the guy from Fact Check was on and said the McCain ads are not actually lying if you parse them out: Obama is a celebrity, he did go to the gym instead of the troop hospital, etc. You have to have a small level of sophistication, though, to understand how a ruthless and sociopathic campaign manager can twist things around. That shows where John ‘I approved this ad’ McCain has decided to go down the low road.

Best wishes for Obama in keeping to the high road, but if he has to get down in the sewer and slug it out, McCain has plenty of barndoor-sized targets.

Here’s the problem; If we leave McCain sittin’ in the sewer, the EPA will be all over our asses for illegal toxic dumping!

Oh wait, Johnson is still the head of EPA, nevermind; He’d just want a bribe to forget he ever saw it.

The talking heads say this Brittany/Paris level of low road campagaining will serve to bite McSame in the ass. There is zero substance. If all he can come up with is Obama is a rock star & can he lead….. well shit…. there is no bite there.
Note even sure if there is bark really. But he is enjoying lots of prime time free advertising.

If he keeps this up, we will have to change his nickname to McLame.
