Been Awhile

August 14, 2008 by Spadoman

This is yours truly holding the POW/MIA flag at The White House. George didn’t seem to notice, but I’m sure I was in the sights of the expert marksman standing atop the roof just out of camera at the far left of the photo, behind the tree limbs. Peace!

The Republican National Convention is due in town and the festivities will start on September 1st. A mass march from the State Capitol to the Xcel Energy Center, the venue where the convention will be held, is due to take place on September 1st as well. It is a short march. Many National activist organizations will take part in the march. It is to be totally non-violent. Those of us that plan on attending the march to protest the war effort in Iraq will assemble peacefully and carry signs with our simple message of Peace throughout the land.

If you can make it, come join us. People can crash at my place. there is plenty of floor space. In the meantime, a friend sent me this e-mail. I will post it here. It speaks volumes about what is actually happening in our country today. I still feel like I’m spinning my wheels when it comes to protesting the war and facing down the other important issues concerning the rights and the pride of the United States of America.

One of the things that I was reminded of while being a part of The Longest Walk is that the government has been pushing around people for a long time. All the reasons to create America were good, but at the expense of the indigenous people who already inhabited this land. Now, this same greed and power over the people has spread to anyone who is not white in color or doesn’t speak perfect English. The poor people and those that oppose the government are also cast to this lot. The idea of democracy has gone from freedom for all to freedom for those that don’t argue and fight against what the holders of the purse strings want America to be or become.

I’ll print this article in its entirety. Please feel free to do as instructed. That is, come up with more of the “conservative” things our government has stolen from the people.

Lastly, make no mistake. I am not a Native Indigenous person, nor do I try to be one. I follow a way of life that seems right, and the Red Road has many great ideas that allow us to live in harmony with each other and with the world as it was created. A connection with Mother Earth and the natural order of life and its cycles. I know right from wrong and know that what was done to the Indian people when they were marched across the country and had their land and language taken from them was wrong and continues to be wrong, not only to them, but to all the people of color and other non christian religions. It will be interesting to see if people will vote for a Black president or a Muslim president as Obama is both.

Take care and be well, all of you. I continue to pray for peace to all as all of life is Sacred.

“Hi Joe,

Here’s the piece I was telling you about:

Attach any additions that you think of to the following list and
continue to forward it to your friends. You can also send it back to
me. I’m interested to see what other people might add.

If you know anyone that shoots YouTube videos, I think that it could
make a great video with people standing up and declaring that “I am a
conservative…” and re-framing the definition by context.”

Blessings,

John

Strange how the White House has become this militia guarded fortress.
