Hispanics Consider Themselves Above Blacks (UPDATED)

I picked up the Albuquerque Journal this morning and was not surprised to see these words blazing across the front page. I may have been amazed if the statement wasn’t from the Chairman of the Bernalillo County (New Mexico) Republican Party. The Repubes are really playing the racial hatred card this time around.

Fernando C deBaca, the chairman mentioned, had a bunch to say. He seems to be quite the racist despite his Hispanic looks and name. The title of this post was only part of his racist babbling. The quote form the front page says,

“The truth is that Hispanics came here as conquerers. African Americans came here as slaves. Hispanics consider themselves above blacks. They wont vote for a black president.”

The people of the state are demanding the Republican Party remove him from the party rolls. Even the racist pig Pete Domenici, R NM is calling for his resignation.

deBaca has a long history of working with the Republican party. He was an assistant to Nixon and Ford as a cabinet secretary.

When I read this this morning I was eating at the local IHOP. My waitress is also a friend who happens to have a Mexican heritage. I asked her about the statement and how she interpreted it. She let me know that the idea of conquerer/slave and the divisiveness of that notion is only prevalent with the thugs and “stupid” people in the hispanic community. The creedo of prisoners and the unthinking people. She let me know that she rarely hears that kind of talk and most of her family is going to be voting for Obama this November.

I don’t think deBaca should resign. I think he should continue babbling his bullshit as a representative of the Grand Old Party. Might wake the “thinking” republicans up to the real party line. It might help those hispanic voters to realize that the Repubes are just a bunch of stupid old fashioned white men.
