Pop Star Sarah?

Reading the headlines of the Roswell Daily Record this morning I found out Sarah Palin was coming to town Sunday. With a huge demand it looks like they will have to print more tickets for the campaign stop. They have printed 12,000 and are ready to make another 3,000 today if need be.

What about this governor is so appealing that a dairy farming town of less than 50,000 would attract over 12,000 attendees? How can a person that was a virtual unknown just a few weeks ago have so much appeal that she would attract folks from Texas and Arizona to travel all the way into the middle of the desert to hear her speak? What kind of voodoo did the Republican guru’s do?

Maybe the area around the Roswell is so immersed in conspiracy theory that everyone is ready to listen to her take on the Obama coverup. You know…the “fact” that he is covering up his secret Muslim agenda. Possibly they want to know more about his conspiracy with Ayers. How the Democratic Party Is conspiring to cover up the socialist agenda they always push. The irony here is that the local headquarters of the Repuglican Party is in the old Cover Up Cafe and the signs are still visible from its former tenant.

But no! The tickets are going to entertainment starved people who want to see some live music. We never get much of it here and I know how much I miss it. People from every tiny cow town for a few hundred miles are getting tickets at will call. Reservations are easy to book…until the tickets are gone. But with all of the folks who are clamboring for tickets they may have to move the show to a larger hanger at the airport.

You see, The big draw isn’t Palin…it’s Hank Williams Jr. Sarah isn’t enough to get more than a few hundred, at the most, attendees in a town like this. Even though Roswell is a heavily right leaning town most of the folks here won’t go out of their way for the parades and festivals held here each year. Hardly any locals even turn out for the concerts held during the festivals and fairs. She has to bring the pop star to get anyone to attend.

After I read the article I Googled “Palin Hank Jr” and found out she was on tour with Bocephus. Many of her appearances lately have been with him. I figure that without him with her the audience would be sparse. The terrorists that call for Obama’s death would stand out much more in a smaller crowd. I think she is covering up a conspiracy to hide them better and touring with a pop star, no matter how yesterday he is, has a better draw of rednecks that the actual killer wannabe’s blend in.

I know, no matter how bad I need live music, I wont be attending.

There is an auction at the sale barn.

If I really want to be entertained I’ll go watch the auctioneer sell pigs.

Maybe bring some lipstick.
