From our Dept of WTF?

November 7, 2008 by Dusty

7 in 10 African Americans that voted for Obama in CA also voted YES for Proposition 8.

WTF?????

Loving v VA was the Supreme court case that made it legal for inter-racial couples to wed. Hello!

Marriage vs Civil Unions is nothing more than separate but equal….which we all know is total bullshit.

So…why did so many African American’s vote FOR Prop 8 here in California??

Your guess is as good as mine..but evidently, they forgot their very own history of overcoming the ’separate but equal’ horseshit our government tried to force upon them.

All I know is…it makes me very sad…very, very sad.

Disregard the first 3 and a half minutes of this video….it has nothing to do with my post here.

Hmmm go figure! It would be interesting to know if it was presented as a faith based item to the black community? A lot of these anti gay marriage campaigns play the “faith card” twisting biblical words to fit their agenda…. rather than the Love one another big picture theme.

We’ve wrangled with this in Oregon State a bunch– it is always OUTSIDE of state groups pushing the anti gay agenda- with ballot measures, and legal challenges.
We finally got domestic partnerships legalized- but not without one more outside legal challenge. Domestic partnerships are less than legal marriage and not 100% equal- but with the damned outsiders butting in, it was the next best thing,

Still– I did listen to the first 3.5 minutes– about old Ted. And I do mean OLD- the coot is 85…. if the State of Alaska does not retire him the Senate needs to . The Bush regime let felons & lawbreakers hang in there– the new admin should not.

As a felon, Stevens could not even vote for himself– right?

What people don’t understand they fear. People tend to fear anything perceived as different as a moral issue. In many of the “minority” communities, Homosexuality is considered to be a moral issue because they don’t really understand it. The black men I know who are gay tell me of horrible discrimination within their own families – that it remains unacceptible.

The reality is that the world is made up of tremendous diversity, and the best way to get on with it would be to approach everything with an open mind and open heart.

That said, I am still opposed to all marriage because mine sucked. So there. ;)

    Homophobia knows know color.

As for these “Christians”, wouldn’t Jesus just be so proud of them?
