A Modest Proposal

December 4, 2008 by Robb Willis

Nero fiddled while Rome burned, but he was piker compared to our leaders in Sacramento, sitting on their hands while California drowns in red ink. Why does Schwarzenegger’s list of budget cuts not include any of the 120 gridlocking legislators that have lead us down this rat hole? Wouldn’t 60 people suffice to not do the job?

Nebraska has had a unicameral legislature for over 70 years and seems to get along just fine. With the public facing draconian cuts, it’s past time for California’s representatives to lead by example and cut their own salaries, staffs, food and car per diems, etc.

Have to change the constituiton? No problemo after Prop 8 cleared the way with a thin majority. Screwing Sacramento fat cats ought to pass by at least 95% to 5%.

    Robb, welcome to Sirens Chronicles!
I look forward to learning more about the great state of California. BTW I think that Point Lobos is perhaps one of the most breathtakingly beautiful places on the planet.

    Ty, ty, ty!

Someone on Chris Matthews said yesterday that Arnold is the second most popular republican behind Sarah Palin, but he can’t run for president. Ah, too bad -jeez…

I just don’t get why he has any popularity at all. His big campaign promises of “throwing open the books” and ending cronyism have not only gone unfulfilled, the issues are worse than ever. California’s diminishing revenues go to pay off bond debt, which Schwarzenegger has done his best to pile even higher and deeper. And that is all he can claim as an accomplishment on his govenor’s resume.

Term limits and Article 2, Section 1 of the Constitution are all that is protecting us from the Gropinator repeating his line, “I’ll be back.”

well, new york is bankrupt too thanks to george pataki an joseph bruno- who are both gone now but it’s a wee too late. i have the ‘honor’ of living upstate new york where it’s predominately red. sigh. somehow long island is red too- guess the burbs are just full of stupids. anyhoo- our new governor- who fessed up to his affairs and took the wind out of the rethugs’ sails- has already said big cuts are a comin’ here- and since this man actually has a brain- i believe him. sigh. where i live has been depressed and stagnant for years. looks like the rest of america will soon catch up.

although arnold did have a few good movies- it doesn’t mean that it makes him a good executive. i say thank heaven- or wherever- he can’t run or it would be arnold/sarah 2012. ugh.
