Scaring Us With The Same Old Stuff

The leak of the Homeland Security Threat Assessment is just in time for the new year. The report marked “For Official Use Only” somehow made it into the hands of “the news” people. They immediately told the world about it’s findings. The media is used by officials so I guess it wasn’t so much of a leak a an intentional thing to reinstill the fear into the increasingly complacent American society.
The Department Of Homeland Security is playing along with the war machines need to keep U.S. citizens scared. If they continue giving us fear they can keep selling their wars. Without the conflicts their bottom line plummets. What better way to sell war tools than showing the buyers some numbers on a sheet of paper that include biological or nuclear bombs in America.
Even though an attack with weapons of mass destruction is the lowest threat in the report it led the story. BE SCARED!!! Then came the border security issue. WE WANT MORE MONEY FOR FENCES!!! Cyber attacks on the water or power suppliers will cripple America. MORE CONTROL OF THE INTERNET IS NECESSARY!!! The Dept. Of Homeland Security already considers bloggers a terrorist threat so more control will surely target those of us who do this thing. Censorship of free thought is something they are trying to sell with their fear. The surprising thing to me is how many Americans are willing to give up rights to be protected from the terrists. JUST WANNA SIT IN FRONT OF MY TEEVEE AND LET THE GUVMINT KEEP ME!!! Yeah, keep you in lockstep with their will. JUST REMAIN AFRAID!!!
Seems the need to sell us the fear comes when everything is new. Just in time for the new year, the new president and the new congress. Can’t let all of this empty talk of change let us forget about the “real threats” in the world. A new frame of the American Mind would be the biggest threat to The Machine. So they are dredging up the old scary stuff from the early post 9/11 hysteria.
That era brought us so much tragedy. Besides the lives lot in the the hijacked planes and their targets our countrylost a lot. Two wars , the “Patriot” Act and the Dept. Of “Homeland Security” were sold to us through fear. Now one of those entities is continuing the fear sales. By leaking this report.
They are basically saying “We hope you had a Merry Christmas and now a Happy Go To Hell to all.”.

my personal thought is that the neocons perpetrated all of the threats. they were behind the 9/11 attacks, behind the anthrax and the stupidity at the airports and the orange/red alerts. i don’t think it has ever dipped below orange- and who could forget the duct tape of the windows? it was about then that i thought something was funny. hmmm….. let’s duct tape our windows shut- that should keep out nuclear fallout or bio weapons. please.
if there are any ‘terrorist attacks’ during obama’s tenure- rest assured it will be neocon based. of that, i have no doubt.
Every myth and fairy tale has a kernel of truth or wisdom in it. The thick book of fairy tales I read to my children included “The Little Boy Who Cried Wolf.” Orange means just about that much to most of us anymore.
By the way, I was a very young parent of four little ones. If I had it to do over again, I would not have read them any scary fairy tales. Our national “parents” remain as dumb as I was. However they are big enough and old enough to know better, so it truly must be a calculated decision to try to keep the populace frightened.

Now, in retrospect, we can see the purpose behind the leak. Reminding us to be scared of the terrorists prepared us to hurrah Israel’s invasion of Gaza.
