I Think It’s Backwards

On 60 Minutes last night our president said he was looking for an exit plan for Afghanistan. But he just sent 17,000 troops there and plans to send more for the invasion of Pakistan. Kinda seems all bass ackward to me.
The war machine isn’t ready to quit their profiteering and so war in the Middle East will cotinue. There are too many things pointing to this. The US proposal to begin arming citizens of rural areas to help drive down Al Qaida and the Taliban seems like a redundancy. Wasn’t it the same US that armed the Taliban in the first place?
“What we can’t do is think that just a military approach in Afghanistan is going to be able to solve our problems,” the president said on CBS’ “60 Minutes.” “So what we’re looking for is a comprehensive strategy. And there’s got to be an exit strategy. There’s got to be a sense that this is not perpetual drift.”
So the “Exit Plan” isn’t really an exit plan after all. It is longer and more violent war leading up to a prolonged occupation to keep thet pipeline “safe”. I am not sure if they are dealing with the fact that an occupied country’s people are resentful and will continue to fight back.
When talking about Dickless Cheney’s comments about Guantanamo and torture Obama said,
“The facts don’t bear him out. Let’s assume we didn’t change these practices. Are we going to just keep on going until … the entire Muslim world and Arab world despises us? Do we think that’s really going to make us safer? I don’t know a lot of thoughtful thinkers, liberal or conservative, who think that that was the right approach.”
Does he think an endless occupation will make things all peachy keen? I doubt it.
This is just too backwards to make sense to me.
The only reasonable exit strategy I can see is bringing our troops home.

I kind of went ‘huh?’ during the entire interview. But I did like how he ripped the Big Dick Cheney.
apparently, the rethugs thought he laughed and smiled too much. i didn’t watch it but it was the buzz on the talk shows. too happy for hard times. well, most of the folks who read at my place complained when i was too ‘doom and gloom.’ most folks are living doom and gloom and are more than aware that there are big issues we are facing. they want a leader who is calm and able to live in the moment as well as look forward. i don’t agree with every decision president obama has made so far- but i intend to give him his 100 days before i start constructively criticizing him.
