BF, I watch KCal's news and sadly I am aware of all the murder and mayhem committed in Hell-A.

The guy that died after going to the Angels opener was really fucked up as someone sucker punched him from behind.

You couldn't pay me enough to live there any more. When I was younger I resided in Pico Rivera which is now a major gangland area.

As much as I find Bakersfield boring..its safer than LA in many respects.

While this pitcher's story has received a lot of play in the national media today, it is not a unique story. Just last week in Los Angeles two USC students were hit by a woman running a red light. The female student was killed, the male student was carried about 200 feet, on the hood of the car. Then the car stopped, the male passenger (who turned out to be the husband of the female driver) stepped out just long enough to toss the young man off the hood, then got back in the car, and they took off. The woman driver was turned in when a substantial reward was offered. Her husband remains at large with the car.

The incidence of hit and run crimes in Los Angeles County has always been high, as has been the propensity of morons to go around shooting innocent victims on the freeways. Then of course, many times neither firearms nor are two thousand pound vehicles the only means of murder and mayhem, but just a thug and his fists, as occurred Tuesday when a man leaving Angels Stadium after the season opening game was killed when engaged in an altercation with two unknown assailants in a stairwell.

Human beings have the capacity to achieve so much, and the propensity to be so cruel and selfish. We have got to figure out how to bring out the best in humans and how to deal with the socially deviant in an intelligent manner, warehousing them in schools for criminals is not the answer.
