Why Dont They Just Shut Up?

What do the Republicans want? They have been bitching since the election last year and can’t seem to be consistant on anything except finding fault with everything the new administration does. Now they are whining about our presidents lack of being vocal on the situation in Iran. Seems like no matter what Obama does or doesn’t do is just feed for a whine fest. But, really. What is he supposed to say?  That stolen elections are wrong? That wouldn’t make them happy either.

Think back to the 2000 election here. The same folks who are doing most of the bitching are the very same ones who supported the theft of the elections that put Dick and Dubya in the White House. What would they have said if the Gore supporters would have taken to the streets? What kind of reaction would they have supported if the streets of our cities would have been filled with protesters asking where their votes went? I’d bet they would have supported a massive military crackdown that would make the Iranian one look tame. Our armed forces would have been battling our citizens in a matter of minutes.

Of course that didn’t happen here. Everyone was being mesmerized by “Touched By An Angel” and “Malcom in the Middle”.  The first season of “Survivor” was a bit more important than Jeb Bush insuring his brother’s presidency and the not so Supreme Court backing him up. No one seemed to care enough to say anything let alone stand up for our nations freedom. I’m guilty of the complacency as much as anyone. I bitched and moaned about it but without anyone elses concern I just shut up. Then before a year was up the nation was hornswaggled into supporting a war or two and everybody was all about Bush.

But right now I think the Republicans should just shut the hell up.  It’s like they are just itching to get us involved in another war in the Middle East. I mean…what is the problem with Obama’s fairly silent stance? Supporting either side is just supporting the same Theocracy. Both of the big contenders feel the US is the Great Satan anyway. So if he supported either candidate the Iranian peoples support would soon be for the other one. Wouldn’t it?

Iran is a sovereign nation and this is a sovereign “revolution”. Our forces didn’t interfere 30 years ago when they had the last revolution and we shouldn’t interfere now. Not even verbally. Obama is taking the right stance by not taking a stance. The Repubes are wanting him to stick his nose where it doesn’t belong.

Kinda one of those damned if you do, damned if you dont things.

No matter what he does they are gonna be whining anyway.

it’s simple- they want power and they want absolute power over the entire globe. make no mistake- they are working on getting it too. not the morons in front of the cameras- but the real people of power behind the scenes. they don’t give a rat’s ass about civil liberties or democracy- they care about wealth, profit and power.

Lawrence O’Donnell wiped the floor with Monica Crowley Friday night on The McLaughlin Group when she accused Obama of not backing the protesters in Iran.

“What would you have him say?” And, “Just give us one sentence, Monica!”

Of course, she couldn’t answer, because the rightwingers are only trying to get Obama boxed-in on this issue so they can then hammer him on what he does say. Even Pat Buchannan had the sense to say Obama was handling this situation perfectly.

Since there’s nothing the United States can actually do about the events in Iran besides applying lip service, those calling for Obama to throw the protesters support, like McCain, come off looking like idiots while they give the protesters no credit for intelligence.

Of course, Americans are no more freer than the Iranians. If we decided to riot in the streets in protest of our government, how long do you think it’d be before the military cracked down on us?
