Happy 6th Of July!
July 6, 2009 by Alien Trucker

What a holiday weekend this was. The UFO Festival was in full swing here in Roswell (it has been 62 years since the crash and coverup) and I felt too poorly to even go see the parade let alone the Jefferson Starship show on Saturday. I am still feeling bad so please excuse the uninspired writing I am putting down.

I laughed when I saw the Palin meltdown in the press. The betrayal of the Alaskan’s trust by resigning now is weird and I don’t see her point. I have no sympathy for her new projects and think the only viable reason for fleeing the ship would be the big responsibility of taking care of her family. The extra care that a baby with Down’s Syndrome requires would be a great reason for leaving office but that’s not her trip. Seems like she wants to get more famous or something.
Maureen Dowd said it well yesterday. “Palin/Sanford in 2012! Save time. We are already in Crazy Town!” is what she suggested the new Republican slogan should be. Humor sometimes makes a sad situation seem less pitiful.
While the President went to Russia and the region trying to negotiate disarming of old Soviet Union weapons, the Veep returned from a visit to Iraq. Seems the government there wants to run their own country and let him know that once our troops leave a place they are not welcome back. Maybe their view of American style “democracy” is more right than I have thought in the past. I know the example set by the past administration was not the shining beacon on the path to freedom and the new bunch in D.C. seems to be faltering as well. Same people, different hat? I am still chanting that Obama campaign slogan, “HOPE”.
Robert McNamara, one of the planners and authors of the Viet Nam war died this morning. At 93 he lived a screwed up life. The guilt of getting us into an illegal immoral war that destroyed more lives than the multitude it took led to his work with impoverished nations later in life. My opinion is that all of the good he did will not save his wicked soul. No RIP from me. He could have learned a lot from Michelle Obama. Too bad she was too young to be an influence.
The presidents wife is working hard in the problem ridden city she now lives in. While the former Mayor of D.C. is allegedly stalking women in the park she is going to help out at homeless centers, battered womens shelters and other important services for the poor. With the press not welcome it seems sincere and not a photo op. Sounds like Marion could learn a lot from her too.
All in all the week surrounding our nations birthday was eventful. Locally as well as internationally. I guess I am just feeling too poorly to really get worked up much lately. I am hoping that I, as well as our nation gets better and back on our feet really soon.

i know what you mean. i feel fine but uninspired. i think it’s because underneath all of the media crap and distractions- no real change in the right direction is happening. or i should say left- there’s plenty of right moving. the fact that it is true that we have a corporate oligarchy is so disheartening that i felt like the 4th celebrations were just the apex of the hypocrisy hill americans are climbing. such is life. no idea what to write for my thursday slot at this point. perhaps the michael jackson memorial?
