Now, the “Patriots” Will Howl

November 24, 2009 by Jolly Roger

Rethugs suck assThose yellow-magnet “patriots” of the Rushpubliscum Party absolutely adore war. They loved it when their monkey marched into Afghanistan, and they were downright orgasmic when he attacked the heathen ay-rabs of Iraq for no reason at all. They did suffer a little disappointment when their monkey wasn’t allowed to start a third war in Iran, but they’re still trying to figure out how to set that one off.

Yeah, those Rushpubliscums sure love their warsbut only on two conditions: they don’t want to fight in them, and they don’t want to be asked to PAY for them either. They’ve been very content to place the burden for these wars they all love so much on the backs of poor kids and future taxpayers. As we all know, asking THEM for any sacrifice at all is COMMANISM, so we dare not do any of THAT.

They’ve spent weeks now accusing the President of “dithering” on Afghanistan, where any increase in the forces stationed is going to be enormous. They, themselves, can now go a long way towards ending that dithering, AND they can show how much they Support The Troops! by ensuring that out uniformed peoplem have everything they need in Afghanistan.

How, you ask? They can get behind the proposal David Obey has floated. If Afghanistan is an all-important military commitment of ours, it seems to me that all of us-right winger and liberal alike-ought to be happy to pony up some money to make sure that they have everything they need.

If this proposal gains ground, or ESPECIALLY if this proposal should pass, watch a whgole bunch of right wingers become peaceniks. Among the selfish Rushpubliscums, the only proposal that would get more derision than this one is a military draft.

The powerful chairman of the House Appropriations Committee has a stark message for President Obama about Afghanistan — sending more troops would be a mistake that could “wipe out every initiative we have to rebuild our own economy.”

“There ain’t going to be no money for nothing if we pour it all into Afghanistan,” House Appropriations Chairman David Obey told ABC News in an exclusive interview. “If they ask for an increased troop commitment in Afghanistan, I am going to ask them to pay for it.”

Obey, a Democrat from Wisconsin, made it clear that he is absolutely opposed to sending any more U.S. troops to Afghanistan and says if Obama decides to do that, he’ll demand a new tax — what he calls a “war surtax” — to pay for it.

“On the merits, I think it is a mistake to deepen our involvement,” Obey said. “But if we are going to do that, then at least we ought to pay for it. Because if we don’t, if we don’t pay for it, the cost of the Afghan war will wipe out every initiative we have to rebuild our own economy.”

Anyone with the economic aptitude of a 10 year old will understand that Obey is exactly correct in what he says. Rushpubliscums, of course, do not have that aptitude, apparently believing that the funding for the wars they all love so much comes falling out of the sky, deposited by the money-birds as they fly over this great land of ours.

I believe we’ve lost in Afghanistan, and I believe that any additional deaths of anyone from the NATO alliance there are deaths for nothing. But I’d still be willing to pay up to make sure those guys and gals have what they need to have in order to function.

If you can find me even 2 in 10 Rushpubliscums who feel the same way, I’ll be stunned.

Absolutely, TAX WAR. If we are going to bomb the shit out of people, then we sure should pay for it. If it is in our national interest to wage war, it is in our national interest to pay for it.

Oh you’ll have the fighting Keyboardists on the side of paying for the war “effort”. Of course, they’ll say, we can pay for the war, just as soon as we take all that SS money and spend it on our troops! Oh, and we’ll have to say “tough shitsky” wanting to eat, ’cause now, food stamps are only going to be used by our GIs. At least, until they’re hitch is through. Then, they better get a job as well.

There, all paid for. And it didn’t hurt anybody that the Republicans care about at all!
