Bloch shut down probe of Siegelman Case Last Year

Such farkwittery here folks. The audacity of Special Counsel Scott Bloch and his minions just slays the hell out of me. From AP via TO:

The U.S. Office of Special Counsel last year shut down a previously undisclosed investigation into the federal prosecution of former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman, according to an internal memo made public Wednesday.

The investigation was being conducted by a task force formed at the agency a year ago to pursue high-profile political investigations in Washington, most notably whether the White House played politics in firing U.S. attorneys. It began gathering information on the Siegelman case in September and was planning to request documents from the Justice Department in October before Special Counsel Scott Bloch ordered the case closed, according to the Jan. 18 draft memo, made public by the Project on Government Oversight, a watchdog group.

Why do they think its ok? Common sense would dictate otherwise, wouldn’t it? As Siegelman says, the most important issue now is:

“The question is who told them to shut it down,”

Oh hell yeah….

Dow, murderous bastards of BhopalThe firing of the USA Attorneys was the downfall of Alberto Gonzo Gonzales Now, the asshole that heads the EPA is looking the fool with the dismissal of Mary Gade, regional administrator of U.S. EPA Region 5 which is based in Chi-town. This woman has been fighting Dow Chemical for years m’dear reader..and she gets kicked to the curb by the Head of the EPA, that wonderful individual named EPA administrator Stephen Johnson. Johnson is a prick of mythic proportions:

Gade told the Tribune she resigned after two aides to national EPA administrator Stephen Johnson took away her powers as regional administrator and told her to quit or be fired by June 1.

You son of a bitch. Can you actually be so stupid as to think no one will notice this bullshittery? Are you that fucking retarded?

Gade has taken on Dow forevah! She has fought the good fight against one of the the major top five polluters and murderous thugs in the world. And this is how the Bush Administration rewards her. Ass-friggin-holes. Remember Bhopal people…

Divided We Fall

The Democratic infighting, and the lengthy process is only making McSame’s job easier.
The sniping and the division must cause him to smile a grinchy smile.
This rant in in response to a post on Siren’s, to a piece about some voter’s choosing “None of the Above” - unhappy with the presidential offerings.

I guess that hit a nerve with me because, any move that gives the Reich wing a possible, remote hint of an advantage is not worth it to me. This is NOT an attack on the writer, but the concept of that strategy.
I want regime change- I wanted it 8 years ago, and I want it more than ever— now!

The idea of writing in *none of the above* candidates, is, in my opinion, a line of thinking that inadvertently winds up helping McSame & the republicans. There is a snarky part of me that feels like if no candidate fits the bill- is not good enough for said voters, then why don’t the dissatisfied run for office, if they think their standards & platform are superior? It seems like a cop out to just declare no candidate is good enough.

I can understand the dissatisfaction, so then I feel compelled to ask the dissatisfied- what are you DOING about it?
It is too easy to just declare no one is good enough & vote none of the above. I know some of my friends would answer the system is broken- and I agree. The press “Kuciniched” candidates- shut them out, silenced their voices- even went to court to assure they could uninvite a viable candidate from a debate, based on their own freedom of press. It really pisses me off & needs to be fixed.

In the end–someone will get this job & we will be living under their rules and philosophies. One of these candidates will be doing the deciding about this war in Iraq, if we should continue the illegal occupation, and wars in general and the direction of this country. One of these candidates will either stop the criminal behavior in the White House, or perpetuate the rogue high crimes & disregard of International laws.

i don’t know what to say

what do you say when you realize where millions of your tax dollars go? i understand fully why the shrouds of secrecy from the government- i would want to keep the abuses, theft, murder and chaos a secret too. i believe that the american government orchestrated and carried out 9/11 in order to gain unprecedented power-and unprecedented access to money, military, and resources- from around the world. i am not a conspiracy theorist- i have been researching this government for years- and putting the puzzle pieces together. if you still can’t wrap your mind around the fact that these people are not only capable– but willing- to do whatever it takes to see their plan through- it’s ok. they’ll probably leave you alone and take me.

Another book from a former Bush employee..

Dougie Feith wrote one. George Tenet wrote his and Rummy did a big ole interview about his time in the Bush Administration with a mens magazine. Now, Ricardo Sanchez, the commander of U.S. Forces in Iraq in 2003-2004 has written a book about his part in history. Sanchez’s book, Wiser in Battle: A Soldier’s Story, isn’t a fond walk down memory lane, not by a long shot. Some may say his book is sour grapes. From a RawStory writeup:

Sanchez commanded the US military in Iraq from 2003-2004. The three-star general was relieved of his commander in 2004 following the Abu Ghraib scandal, and in 2005, was told his career was over and he wouldn’t be promoted to a fourth star.

Time has printed a three page excerpt. Was Sanchez a scapegoat for Rummy, and the horrors of Abu-Ghraib among other things? Read the excerpt and make up your own mind. From the Time excerpt:

Lurita Doan finally forced out…by the White House no less.

No one besides Karl Rove has done more to politicize the GSA than Lurita Doan. This woman had no clue as to how to run a huge federal government department and most likely got her job because she was a ‘loyal Bushie’. Ms. Doan had also been criticized for proposing to cut $5 million from the GSA Inspector General’s budget to limit the office’s ability to audit contracts for fraud and waste. From the NYT via TO:

Lurita A. Doan has been forced out as head of the General Services Administration, the federal agency that oversees billions of dollars in contracts and manages thousands of government-owned buildings.

In a stormy two-year tenure as the agency’s administrator, Ms. Doan has been accused of improperly mixing government business with politics and of trying to steer government contracts to her friends. Democrats in Congress said she violated the Hatch Act, which makes it illegal for government employees to take action that could influence an election.

Domino Effect

The shit sure hit the fan in my area this week. The company my husband works for laid off 600 people yesterday. 300 in Oregon & 300 in Indiana. The company had an $8.5 million dollar loss in the first quarter of this year, & expects to lose money in the 2nd quarter as well. The 600 layoffs represent about 12% of it’s workforce of 5,000, and included production and administrative workers. In this county alone, 4,100 total jobs have been “dropped” since 2006.
The latest national economic downturn shows the RV sector is vulnerable. Fuel prices are a key piece of consumer confidence. The home mortgage crisis also adversely affects RV makers, because many buyers rely on home equity to finance the purchase of a motor home. This company also develops and operates RV resorts in California, Nevada, and Florida. They recently bought land in Michigan, where they plan to develop a 5th RV resort. Previously it was reported the resorts were not all that profitable.

Pisses me off they found money to add a 5th resort, while handing out 600 pink slips.
Our family was spared a pink slip at this time, but it was one tense week, as they first rolled out a press release about pending layoffs and cutbacks, then 2 days later, did the deed.

But wait! There’s more…

i surrender

white flag yep- put a fork in me- i am done. i am giving in and just living and let live. i can’t fight it anymore- the elitist in me has decided that i will acquiesce to the 1/3 of the american people who really think that another clinton in the white house will be what this country needs after 8 years of neo cons; to the 1/3 of the american public who will vote for mccain for reasons i just can’t wrap my mind around. minorities in this country are not well received- apparently, not even by each other as evidenced by the nasty campaign that hillary clinton has waged against barack obama. the people who are clinton supporters think bowling and lapel pins are the merit of how well a president can do their job. they just want to feel good about themselves that they aren’t voting mccain. i posted an editorial from philly highlighting why clinton should just go somewhere. unfortunately for me, that would be back here to new york. sigh. i think i would rather be elitist because at least i have critical thinking skills. no, the 2/3 who will vote for mccain and clinton can’t really see the bigger picture because they don’t really want change. they want to go back iin time to when they could consume and live without having to face the reality of global climate change; starving people around the world; and the fact that we are no longer a democratic republic.

i mean seriously, am i the only one who sees? the fact that the top neo cons in the bush regime have taken up positions in our institutions of higher learning and media outlets? john yoo at berkeley; karl rove at fox; bill kristol at nyt, and most recently- tony snow at cnn. let’s not forget murdoch and zell named to board of directors at associated press. so, the head neo cons are controlling mass media and have put laws in place that permanently circumvent civil liberties in the name of protecting against possibly, maybe, perhaps, someday another terrorist attack- and no says a thing. propaganda machine anyone? but no- the sheeple are busy throwing barbs at each other within the democratic party while watching our country and our planet burn.

and i feel like a stranger in my own country.

Disclosure, my Friends…

I don’t give a rat’s ass about McCain, nor do I think most Siren’s readers do– but this is a major fast one he is trying to pull & it’s good to be informed.

John McCain & his Stepford wife Cindy.
John McCain, my friends, is all about telling the truth, well at least half of it.

John and Cindy McCain filed separate tax returns. His return does not include dividends, capital gains, interest and other income that went only to her. The campaign cites privacy concerns in not releasing her data.

Well, sure it’s important to keep the fact that you are filthy rich private, my friends, so you can talk to the American people as if they were friends & you can relate to the struggles of “everyman”.

The LA Times, reports:

John McCain reported income of $405,409 last year, but the money he spent on charitable contributions, wages to household staff, alimony and taxes ate up most of that.

McCain on Friday released his 2007 and 2006 tax returns, but not those of his wife, whose income from ownership of a beer distributor far exceeds $1 million, according to financial disclosure statements filed previously in the Senate.

McCain, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, has never before released his tax returns. Outside groups estimate the McCains’ combined wealth to be between $28 million and $100 million.

is it just me?

dem donkey

i continuously get calls for donations from the democratic party in the mail. usually, i just write on the envelope ‘no impeachment=no money’ but i decided to contact someone at headquarters via email. i mean seriously. who in their right mind would donate to the party of pelosi who won’t hold any member of bushco accountable for anything? or reid who won’t cut off funding for the illegal war in iraq? or who woud donate money to fund hillary clinton’s campaign based on innuendo, put downs, and outright lies? not me. i am going to change my affiliation soon (on the downlow i expect to be moving in a few weeks) and i will change it to independent. here is my email to dnc:

“i felt compelled to contact directly after receiving several pleas for donations. i won’t be contributing to the democratic party because i feel that the democratic party has let it’s members down. from the shameful sidestepping on issues like ending funding for the iraq war; to the outright refusal to hold any member of the bush regime accountable for anything; to the shameful display that hillary clinton has put on almost her entire campaign- i am ashamed to be a democrat. as a matter of fact, i am changing my affiliation to independent before the election. the democratic party was given a mandate by the people of this country and it has squandered it by pandering and playing the waiting game for the 2008 elections. i realize that my email means exactly nothing- but i felt that i should let you know.”

history repeats itself

ancient historylike it or not- human nature doesn’t change. it isn’t that it isn’t capable of change- it just doesn’t. anyone who has read any history- whether it be american or global- sizes up our current situation fairly quickly. it is one reason that words like ‘fascism’ and ‘nazism’ are bandied about. my thought is- this particular crew had history as their oyster- they have picked and chosen the worst components of all of the ‘isms’ and rolled them into a bastardized form of capitalism i like to call a corporatocracy. what folks don’t realize- they are just tools and are being used. americans tend to be reactionary folk. easily manipulated comes to mind also. we aren’t the world’s deepest thinkers and we have always been people of action- moving, moving, moving- which is probably how new york got the moniker ‘city that doesn’t sleep’- but i digress. i don’t really have much to say these days as i read words written by other americans. not the politicians- i checked out on that one. many folks are throwing terms around like ‘country falling into an abyss’ and there’s the matter of something like 81 % of the country believes this country is headed in the wrong direction- to which a firm, smirky ’so?’ was the response. how can i say that these folks are wrong? i can’t. they aren’t. the world has ridden out regimes before- this country revolted once against a monarch and has assisted other countries in their fight as well (to what end i now question but i will save that for another time). this century’s greatest single issue is global climate change. we probably have enough oil- but as that’s part of the bigger problem- along with coal- it’s all pretty moot. i guess i just wasn’t expecting things to happen quite so quickly- food and water shortages were not part of the msm’s news array and we have all been kept in the dark as to how bad the state of the world truly is.
