There you go. Now we know…

Note - my apologies to the late great Nat King Cole…but this was the song that lept into my head when a certain Franklin e-mailed me with the line “guess for got ig’nant on the radio again!”
Shall we?
Rancid, that’s what you are
Rancid, though televised or on the radio
Like the stank of bigotry that clings to thee
How the thought of you does things to me (shudder)
Never before has someone been more
Rancid in every way
And forever more, that’s how you’ll stay
That’s why, asshole, its incredible
That someone so fucking unremarkable
Maintains listeners/advertisers/a fucking job despite being the living definition of rancidity!
Pause…consider…continue.
Okay, so that last line needs work, but fuck a duck…this bitch is operating on one cup of coffee and a double dose of aspirin.
Wince.
Shall we?
Don Imus is an asshole.
He’s also one of the 7 in 10 Americans who didn’t admit to race bias in a recent survey but was fucking bullshitting themselves.
What?
Oh c’mon, most people don’t admit to taking a piss in the shower but…yeah, mmmhmmm.
Anyhoo, Imus mouthing off about a football player being in legal trouble because he’s black and, after confirming that football player’s race, stating that “There you go. Now we know.”…ugh…in an obvious attempt to connect the man’s legal drama with his blackness (and no, that bullshit about Imus claiming he said that shit because he felt the football player was being picked on because he is black doesn’t now, didn’t yesterday and never will pass the stank test) was simply an inevitable verbal display of bigotry.
Imus has a problem with race that shall not be overcome simply by placing him in daily contact with people of color any more than Strom Thurmond’s racist ass was enlightened by the sexual exploitation of a black woman on staff at his home or the birth of their child.
But my problem isn’t with Don Imus…it is with the listeners who attract the advertisers who are then used by the radio station ownership group (Citadel Broadcasting Corporation) to justify employing Don Imus.
I can’t help but wonder if the listeners, particularly those who tuned in after the nappy headed hos drama, aren’t also members of the 7 in 10 Americans who suffer from race bias but don’t admit it and loudly declare themselves not bigots as if you can announce yourself innocent of an indictment brought on by thy own motherfucking actions/word/listening habits.
And this bitch is looking for a list of every advertiser who is running on WABC…every fucking one of them.
My working, hard working American bitchified self damn well isn’t budgeting myself through a gas crisis so that I can support the motherfuckers who support Don fucking Imus.
There you go.
Now we know…

thinking people make me smile. stupids- not so much. which is why i don’t like malkin or hasslebitch or the rest of the ‘talking but not really saying anything of value’ crowd. which is why i enjoy reading larisa so much. she just hits the issues right out of the ballpark again and again. and she nailed the reverend wright flap to the f**king wall.

i guess i have a real problem with white folks crying over the words of black folks. i mean, seriously, did you actually listen to barack obama’s speech? reverend wright’s? or did you base your opinions on the ad nauseum coverage of the largely white news pundits working for largely white corporate sponsors? spare me the indignation. let’s lay it all out here- naked and bare in the light- racism exists- whether you are black, white, yellow, brown, purple or whatever. white folks discriminate against black people; black people discriminate against asian folks; asian folks discriminate against latino folks….. and the circle of life goes on. so, before we get all holier than thou about how liberal and progressive we are- and how horrible it is for reverend wright to say ‘god damned america’- let’s get a bit of perspective.
i am a white woman. i have never knowingly in my life experienced racism, misogyny, or classism. i have never felt, in my life, less than or that i couldn’t do anything i damned well pleased. i have pretty near always had what i needed and since i became an adult- i have had what i wanted. i lock my car doors. i lock my home door and windows. if i am walking alone, i cross the street when approached– by anyone. why? because i am a woman. i worked in an inpatient psych unit and i worked in a field with kid’s who had very troubled parents. i am aware of my surroundings and i don’t really give a shit if you are black, white or purple- if there are more than 2 of you- i cross. men or women. i am lucky. how many people of color can say the same thing? how about talking to some of the native american tribes who live on reservations in this country. there are several here in new york state- these folks live in abject poverty. how about the legal americans who happen to be migrant workers or meat plant packers in this country? they don’t live in gated communities where many may work as au pairs or lawn folks. you can feel self righteous that you don’t behave that way if you want- but many in this country do.

Angry Black Bitch hits hard..and I love it ~ Dusty
Let’s jump right on in, shall we?
We are not living in a post-racial political era.
We are not living in a post-gender era.
We sure as shit are not living in a post-bullshit equality for all, let freedom ring and the masses have our bread and eat it too era.
What we are living in…and some of us are suffering through…is the mess that results from decades of avoiding the issues of race, class and gender by embracing the school of tolerance rather than engaging in the hard work of social justice.
I am not a fan of the school of tolerance. It gives birth to the delusion that any one political candidate experiencing public support as she or he runs for president of the United States is somehow an indicator that American society has transcended a damn thing.
That interpretation of the 2008 race to the Democratic nomination has been debunked by the very election cycle currently being hailed as transcendent. How the hell can any pundit fix their face to ponder a post-racial America when Democrats beat Republicans in the rush to bait based on race?
How can anyone seriously discuss a post-gender America when I’ve yet to witness a political analysis of Senator Clinton’s campaign by the mainstream media
that doesn’t trip over the fact that she is a woman?
Let’s keep this shit real Jeff Foxworthy style (wink).

Lawrence King was 15 years old.
He was somebody’s baby and somebody’s friend.
He was loved and cared for but he was also taunted and bullied for being gay.
On Feb 12 Lawrence King was shot in the head while working in his school’s computer lab.
He was declared brain dead the next day.
A 14 year old fellow student is being charged with the murder of Lawrence King. It is alleged that Lawrence King was targeted because he was gay and prosecutors have filed murder charges against the suspect with the additional allegation of a hate crime.
Hate, fear and bigotry have turned a junior high school into a crime scene and a young man into murder victim and I can’t help but think that Lawrence King was somebody’s baby before he was a headline. He was somebody’s friend before he was the victim of a hate crime.
Now, those who knew him and loved him mourn the loss of him because Lawrence King will forever be 15 years old.
Somebody’s baby…full of the promise that is a life yet to be lived.
Somebody’s friend…with so much of the happiness and joy of it all yet to be experienced.
In St. Louis there will be a vigil and candlelight walk in remembrance of Lawrence King Wednesday, February 27th at 6:45pm at Mokabe’s. The vigil will be held indoors unless the weather allows otherwise. The candlelight walk will take place afterwards.
May God have mercy…
