Ten Post Round-Up: Policy of Truth

September 5, 2008 by Dizzy Dezzi · 2 Comments

There’s a lot of vim and vinegar being slung around the internets, today.  It’s like there’s a hot political race going on…wait…my bad!

Part of the reason for all the fire and brimstone, methinks, is due to the lack of truthiness from some quarters (I won’t say where.  I will say it starts with a letter that rhymes with the letter “b” and the name rhymes with the word “sailin’”).

In today’s Ten Post Round-Up I will try to dig out the truthiness, if for no other reason than I have a policy of truth when it comes to staying informed and on top of the issues.

Ten Post Round-Up: Superman Edition

September 4, 2008 by Dizzy Dezzi · Leave a Comment

By the time you read this post you will either have recovered from the Palin Speech Drinking Game or had enough Pepto to settle your tummy.  Of course, if you are like me, you probably opted for a refreshing rerun of CSI.

For those of you who prefer your Republican/Conservative news in bite-size portions, today’s Ten Post Round-Up will not disappoint.  But, before you proceed, you might want to indulge in a little musical interlude and remember that you are (or may very likely know) a Superwoman.

  • Looks like McMaverick’s game plan backfired.
  • May the Great Pumpkin bless and keep him: Voice of Snoopy goes to the Great Pumpkin patch in the sky.
  • Let us remember that like a firearm, when in the proximity of a microphone, always assume that it’s loaded (I very recently discovered how embarrassing that can be…thankfully, I’m not a national figure)!

Ten Post Round-Up: We Won’t Get Shafted, Again

September 3, 2008 by Dizzy Dezzi · 2 Comments

You’ve got to give McCain credit. By welcoming Palin into his campaign, he sure livened things up quite a bit in this election (and no, I’m not referring to you-know-what, unless you know what is a bridge or something).

Truth be told, I don’t blame him for his (apparently) monumental screw-up. There was not much more he could do after Obama pretty much drop-kicked McCain during his awesome speech, last week. McCain can only hope that Palin will continue to be a distraction, especially if his big speech does not get the audience and/or the viewership that Obama’s did.

Looks like I got more to dish about Palin in today’s Ten Post Round-Up (after all, forewarned is fore-armed). I heard that Jerry Reed (of Smokey and the Bandit fame) died today. Searching for a song to link to, this one made me think of the Republican party and how we have been treated since GWB got the WH (S/He got the goldmine–I/We got the shaft).

  • Get ready to have your access capped or pay more for internet access.
  • Progressives (and probably some Conservatives) have started a Palin Pull-out Pool. Will and when will she make her grand exit? I’ve placed my bet.

Ten Post Round-Up: Coming Out Of The Dark

September 2, 2008 by Dizzy Dezzi · 2 Comments

Finally back from my much needed summer break. Not sure if anyone really missed me, but I have to send a shout-out to all my chicas (and hombres) who had my back while I had my guard down.

Let’s jump right in, to today’s Ten Post Round-Up, why don’t we? The last few days have shed a lot of light on things supposedly known, things we probably wish we didn’t know, and will continuing shining light until November 5th. And, after being out of the loop for the last two weeks, I definitely feel like I am coming out of the dark. Read more

There is something about the Senate

August 23, 2008 by Gee Carol · Leave a Comment

This campaign has been all about the senators. Not many Senators have ascended to the presidency. And now the rout of outsiders is complete and a senator will be elected President in 2008, and perhaps Vice President. The AP and MSNBC confirmed that Senator Joe Biden will be Senator Obama’s running mate.

We are not surprised, but that is OK. All the signs pointed in Biden’s direction — the trip to Georgia, his silence yesterday (it is very hard for him to be quiet), flowers and family arriving at his home, etc. Operating only from memory (I’ll confirm much more through research later), here are a few initial reflections.

It is a good thing. Biden is a smart choice. Biden will do just fine. He has wanted to be president for a long time, and he will be happy to be Vice President. He will offer wise counsel, foreign relations gravitas, and honest feedback. He will provide good leadership that will not require the “lawyering-up” of a Cheney/Bush.

Joe Biden has the seasoning of difficult life experiences, intellect, courage and honesty, and a very fine record as a working senator and leader. He lost his beloved first wife and child many years ago. He rebuilt his life and found love again. He has weathered serious health problems. He has ridden the train back and forth from Delaware to Washington for years and years. So, he knows the value of “chilling.” And he has a bit of healthy vanity, having had his male pattern baldness repaired, in front of all of us, many years ago.

No more an elitist than Senator Obama is, he comes from a working class background. These two intelligent Democratic nominees can govern well together. If it had been about garnering votes Senator Obama would have chosen Senator Clinton. But governance would have been a nightmare.

About getting elected, however, Senator Biden will know how to fiercely oppose Senator McCain. He has known the Arizonan since he came into the senate. I have no doubt that he will be able to make the case that McCain and our current president (OCP) are “one and the same.” I remember many times when Biden was standing before MSNBC’s cameras roundly criticizing OCP for his latest misstep without holding much of anything back. He can serve the traditional Vice Presidential role of attack dog quite adequately. But he will do it with class.
