Hilary Clinton, Poison Pawn

Hilary Clinton, Poison Pawn
By ReasonOne

Why would anyone trust Hilary Clinton to lead the charge for national health care?  In the first place her current plan is little more than a sop to the insurance companies in that it requires Americans to purchase their own health care from–you guessed it–insurance companies.

In the second place the previous Administration had every opportunity to produce single payer insurance coverage and it failed miserably.  Indeed, it not only failed, it wanted to fail.  I strongly suspect that the Clinton Administration failed to produce single payer health care because it is fundamentally opposed to the idea.  It wasn’t as if Hilary were faced with a hostile Congress. At the time Hilary was handling health care she had a Democratic Congress with which to deal, not a hostile clique of Republicans.  So how did the Clinton Administration succeed in messing up?

Easy.  Instead of appointing someone with the proper credentials they appointed a political hack whose sole qualification was the fact that she was the President’s wife.  Did they appoint a knowledgeable doctor or a former
Surgeon General like C. Everette Koop?  No.  They appointed a lighting rod, a poisoned pawn who they knew would generate controversy and negativity.  In short, Hilary was appointed to handle health care because the Powers That Be KNEW she would fail.

And now Hilary is back to poison the idea of health care again.  It is no coincidence that the her position on national health care is so similar to Republican positions.  The Clintons after all come from the DLC.  They are corporate Democrats.  They’re slightly to the right on social issues and corporate driven on the economic issues.  They simply can’t be trusted to bring about enough of the kinds of changes that this country requires at the present time.  Indeed, they are little more than Republicans in Democratic clothing.

They couldn’t be trusted then and they can’t be trusted now.

that americans may come to their senses and really start reading between the lines and seeing through the hype and spin

white women begin to turn away from clinton

“Like many women over 50, Paula Houwen was eager to vote for Hillary Clinton for president.

“I was impressed when she was first lady. She wasn’t the country’s trophy wife,” the 56-year-old suburban Philadelphia pharmacist recalled.

Today, though, Houwen’s no longer a Clinton fan.

“I do not like the way Hillary Clinton has run her campaign,” she said.”

imagine that.

Who Speaks For Hillary?

Normal ClintonsThe Clinton’s should probably swap memos more often. Bill supports one thing, Hillary supports another. Bill says one thing, Hillary says another. Of course, we could also talk about the rest of her entourage that supposedly speak for her, but generally seem to say the opposite of what she’s declaring.

This past weekend, we had the gaffe by her Chief Campaign Strategist, Mark Penn, who went to Columbia, wearing his lobbyist hat to broker a deal with the Colombians, that, apparently, Hillary is against. Well, it turns out that Bill was all for it.

Now, it appears that Bill and Hillary are at odds about whether or not folks should boycott the Olympics in China. Hillary just came out declaring that President Bush should not go, while last summer, Bill talked Steven Spielberg out of boycotting the Olympics as their “Overseas Artistic Director”.

It seems that Hillary, the presidential candidate, should have the last word on what comes out of her campaign, but, with people who claim to speak for her, coming out and contradicting what she says, one has to wonder if her presidency will be just as incoherent.

Clinton’s campaign advisors should let the adults take charge

CNN has an article concerning Hillary’s dropping a hospital horror story from her pre-moistened speeches, that turns out not so horrid after all. According to the story, which was told to by her host at a campaign visit at some poor schmucks’ home.( Now, if we were doing this at MY house, man, would I have some burning questions for her. Like, when the dog throws up that weird watery/slime/meat chunks concoction they do every so often, should I let her just lick it all back up, or shoo her away, with that “aaaakk…aaakkkk, baby NO, NO!” and then have to clean that goop up, with the dog giving me that “Wastrel” look she gives me anytime I throw away perfectly edible stuff like that.) The guy, Deputy Sheriff Bryan Holman, who I can safely assume was NOT the not-to-be father, relates that a young pregnant woman, suffering some type of complication, was denied treatment merely because she didn’t have the $100 dollar cover charge. The mother died after a stillbirth. The hospital has disputed this, and in fact says the woman had insurance.

From Talkleft, Big Tent Democrat has this to say:

If you are intent on hating Hillary Clinton, you can make a big deal about this honest potential mistake - which came from relying upon an honest Ohio Sheriff’s Deputy. If what you care about is blasting Hillary Clinton - if you do not care about reforming health care in this country - then by all means - act as if you see this as a big Clinton lie.

Speaking as someone who has tried mightily to keep my eyes, ears, and brain open to both candidates presentation, I really have not a problem at all with Hillary’s point in all this. I would like to know why she ran with this without even so much as a perfunctory check with the “offending hospital” before pointing at them and shaking her torch in outrage, however. Think of this; We read stories that make the back of your hair stand up and vomit just about daily with regards health care administrative retardation. The one story they pick, and they can’t even call the hospital first? Who the heck is in charge of the anti-foot-in-mouth preventative health awareness program anyway?

Mebbe Mark Penn’s idea to get back at Hil for making him look bad in Columbia. Go ahead and run with THAT one, since some guy said it.

Update: Penn has resigned this evening from Hillary’s campaign as Chief Strategist.

Who do you want running the Country’s finances, or Will the next president keep you up worrying till 3 in the morning?

I’ve had little to no time to keep up with the news, but I came across this gem the other day…..
It looks like Hillary Clinton has a little money problem. Her campaign has a slight budget overrun of $9 million bucks. Thing is when you want the job of running the country, it would be nice if you could keep your own trip together.
Sorry— I don’t want Hillary answering the phone @ 3 am, and I don’t want her in charge of budgets either.

Hillary, Can You Say, “Conflict?”

The other day, we noted that “Homeowner’s Best Friend” Hillary Clinton has on her staff a Board member from one of the nation’s most predatory subprime lenders. This is saddening to be sure, but I doubt anyone is very surprised by it.

Today, we learn about another little conflict of interest in Team Hillary. It would seem that “The Worker’s Best Friend” has a strategy guru who is working hard down south to implement one of those “free” trade agreements that Hillary finds so abhorrent (in 2007-08, at least. 1993 was another story, wasn’t it?)

I do not hate Hillary Clinton. I do not know if I know her for sure, but what I do know has caused me reservations. She was for Chimpy’s bloodbath before she was against it, and she was for NAFTA before she was against it, and she has people working for her who have a proven track record of being 100% against the ability of the common schmuck to have a decent life in America. Since she’s been murky enough to keep me from knowing her too well, is it OK for me to judge her by the company she keeps?

Now That’s Just Nasty

Is there anybody this Ho won’t schlep with? I don’t know about you, but when somebody has it in for my family, does everything in their considerable power to destroy everything we’ve worked to achieve, does it publically and does it dirty, I would NOT be pals. I would not forget, and I damn sure wouldn’t pander.

Of course, I’m not Hillary Clinton. The picture is priceless.

That’s Richard Mellon Scaife! Yesterday! Jeebus, I need a shower after looking at that. For those with short memories, Scaife was THE MAN orchestrating the Clinton attacks. From Salon, 4/7/1998:

The man whom Time magazine, in its latest issue, calls “the ultimate patron” of the Clinton haters has been identified by Salon and the New York Observer as a key funder of the $2.4 million Arkansas Project, a four-year effort organized through the American Spectator magazine to discredit the president. Scaife foundation money, as Salon has reported, has also allegedly been used to pay key Whitewater witness David Hale and to help bankroll Paula Jones’ sexual harassment case against Clinton. - Salon

Regarding that Commander and Chief test…

Another wise musing from The Angry Black Bitch. ~ Dusty

Confession - this bitch would support a Commander and Chief test as long as my ass got to write the questions and grade that motherfucker.

Having said that…

A bitch is more than a wee bit disturbed by comments stating that Senator McCain has passed the fictional Commander and Chief test.

“I think that since we now know Sen. (John) McCain will be the nominee for the Republican Party, national security will be front and center in this election. We all know that. And I think it’s imperative that each of us be able to demonstrate we can cross the commander-in-chief threshold.” … “I believe that I’ve done that. Certainly, Sen. McCain has done that and you’ll have to ask Sen. Obama with respect to his candidacy” Senator Clinton said.

I’m sorry…well, no I’m not since I didn’t fucking say that shit…but there are two sides bordering Red Phone Avenue. On one side is a rational discussion of those qualities and qualifications Democratic Primary/Caucus voters seek in a President and on the other side is making a point that Senator McCain has passed the Commander and Chief test in an effort to attack the qualifications of Senator Obama.

Last time I check McCain is wrong on reproductive choice, FISA and telecom immunity, the Iraq War, education, healthcare, Social Security…the environment, international diplomacy, NAFTA and economic policy issues.

Toni Morrison backs Obama, not Clinton

Ironically, it was Ms. Morrison that dubbed Bill Clinton the “First Black President”:

In an October 1998 essay in The New Yorker, Morrison wrote: “Years ago, in the middle of the Whitewater investigation, one heard the first murmurs: white skin notwithstanding, this is our first black president. Blacker than any actual person who could ever be elected in our children’s lifetime.”

Ms Morrison is a Nobel Prize winning author. I love my irony served up hot and fresh in the morning..don’t you?

The Clinton era..was it really that good for America?

Tuesday night, prior to counting the first NH vote, the pundits pretty much had Hillary Clinton on life support. She won..not by a landslide, but she clearly beat Obama and wiped the street with John Edwards.

Whatever you think of Hillary and her politics, one thing is abundantly clear; she is riding on the coattails of her husbands eight years as President. A good yardstick of what will happen under a Clinton44 reign can be read in those ancient tea leaves of Clinton42’s era. My point-of-view is that, as progressives, with Bill Clinton we were in the frying pan and the heat was on high. We then jumped into the fire with the election of George Bush..but I digress.David Morris dissects the first Clinton’s time in office very well this week in an Alternet article. I also tear into the Clinton’s, the DCCC and the Clinton’s personal democratic PAC known as the DLC here.

Bill Clinton, with the flourish of his pen, changed the course of all telecommunications. He signed into law the Telecommunications Act of 1996. This act allowed a free-for-all to take place with the blessings of the federal government, and I might add..without one iota of oversight or public hearings on the massive changes that would take place. Within three years, we went from having 13 Teleco’s down to 5 huge conglomerates that control everything. The FCC lost control of the public airwaves as well thanks to the Teleco Act of ‘96. Two corporations, Infinity and Clear Channel sucked up a majority of the radio stations and consequently killed roughly 1100 of them in the process that didn’t ‘perform well’ if you believe the two corporations. Clear Channel is all about the Benjamin’s and its crystal clear if you read the series of articles at Salon by Eric Boehlert. Check out this quote from a Buzzflash writeup about the giant conglomeration that owns anything and everything regarding advertising and music:

Hillary hearts NAFTA.

David Sirota has made a YouTube of Hillary’s response to NAFTA questions at last nights candidate debate on CNN.

Hillary is a DINO for the most part. She is a Rethug in Democratic clothing on many of the important issues. NAFTA expansion is one of THE most important domestic issues facing us today. NAFTA has affected our workforce as no other bill passed by our congress ever has in the last decade or so.. imho. His article about her stance is here. Its short and sweet, so let me give it to ya now:
