It is a must read. - lots of case details, excepts etc. Now is absolutely the time for us to come to the aid of our Country.Henry Wexler, Tammy Baldwin and others at this time have over 89,000 signatures, on the on line petition. The House Judiciary Committee wanted to run op eds in major newspapers, across the country and were turned down ! ! ! - some free press eh ?
I remind everyone that Impeachment is not a constitutional crisis. NO , it is the only “medicine” built into the Constitution, for a constitutional crisis. Having a secret government, “a unitary executive” being lied into war, the loss of Habeas Corpus, The Patriot Act. - have subverted the foundations of our “great experiment” , our democracy.

This video segment covers the MOST salient issues our day - What is governments function, why is it functioning the way it is..and a few other tidbits. Its just a fantastic segment. Keith Olbermann what a voice for sanity. These two together in this - well just kick it out of the park.
Between her particularly fantastic gray suit her brilliant politics and take on things, her being out, she is on my list of big time heros. Its so refreshing to see her on Keith Olbermann more regularly. One great communicator. Makes me prouder still of our tribe and our allies. She knows the score big time, gets the big picture , connects the dots and Keith mentions Naomi Klein - score ! Both Rachel and of course Keith, have a high enough public profile to get the truth out there on the MSM,to the masses. People like them in the main stream, give me so much hope. Amy Goodman too of course, but reality is , too many people do not even know of the daily news hr called Democracy Now. Those who do know DM love it of course.

Detachment

Buddhists are onto something very important : a concept called equnimity , dispassion in the face of stuff that bombards our senses daily. We americans are conditioned to be passionate , jingoistic, nationalistic , to vote, to take action lots and lots of action. We are doers, oh yeah ! go get em tiger..blah blah blah..

Look at the power of memes , big business of advertising and all the tons of psychological studies that go into what is called “effective advertising.” for every concievable demographic that can be dug up. Lately I have noticed , while bracing for the onslaught of impending holiday advertising what is fed to us , while we are relaxed and “taking in” our tv shows. Our lives are supposed to be a constant succession of “fresh experiences” (even if that means getting the latest frozen food from the grocery store) promising a new twist/”fresh” on dinner. Ironically the foods are frozen NOT fresh. Ok. How about the concept of being grateful to have food to eat in the first place, given the state of the world. ( i read many books on hermits, monks who actually eat the same meager meals for yrs on end, inspirational really) AS for our homes, can we be grateful to have a roof over our head period ? vs. the latest flooring and plumbing fixtures ? Cars, isn’t enough to have a dependable car vs . one that is an ego statement? Apparently the answer is No, in our culture. Meanwhile the tv would us have believe thanks to easy credit “Why everybody is just doing so damn well financially, what is wrong with me that i cannot afford all of these things” that is the subtle or not so subtle message. And generates endless internal chatter of our minds. Buddhist teachings address this normal, and persistent inner chatter. (our inner “movies”, if you will) Taming the chariots of the mind , is job one, paying attention to our inner dialog , not wiping it out per se.

marijuana environmental post

Environmentally speaking, Industrial Hemp could revitalize (bye bye farming subsidies- no need) american farmers AND our industrial base in every conceivable sector. a two fer. And, its a crop that is kind to the earth; easy to grow , and grows in all climates. Industrial Hemp has something like .003 THC in it. It’s as different as day and night from the herbal varieties of Sativa and Indica. Both are plants and truly one of earths most precious gifts to us through the ages (heck whole cars/homes/clothing/oils/foods.. on and on, can be made from hemp). On a personal note, MJ as a medicinal plant has saved my life. One of its greatest properties- the ability to individually titrate the dose exactingly to a “T, oke” or puff. Refraining from ingestion when none is desired/wanted or needed is remarkably easy (its not physically addicting at all- though wishing you had some when you don’t is compelling). It is not as easy as calling the pharmacy for a refill of any other pharmaceutal one might be prescribed, but unlike most of our utilized prescriptions, you won’t die IF you miss a dose or two.

It’s truly amazing what a safe medication/ good medicine it can be ( although NOT a single MEDICATION in the world, IS RIGHT FOR EVERYONE). Marijuana’s side effects vary, but most are actually positive/ harmless physically and mentally for most people who find it helpful- And we benefit health wise from it. We experience relief from many conditions - (quite a spectrum actually). It beats the drugs that fall under the ” if you find yourself suddenly losing your vision call your doctor” variety. Sheesh those cavalier recitations of the god awful side of effects of medicines we see direct marketed to us on the tee vee- ‘Hey sudden death , stroke, no biggie….(what are they smokin ?) and this stuff is good for us - call our doctors now and ask about the little purple pill…reach your doctor , by phone’ what are they smoking ?

Ok , I watched the Barney Frank press conference parts 1-6 on the “wisdom of how it goes in washington” about passing a non inclusive of the T or gender Identity ENDA bill, now vs. nothing at all. It left me unconvinced. really unconvinced. Though he is seductive, if one accepts that way things are done in Washington of ok in the first place..

Yeah its tuff , the thugs are mean and nasty - what the fuck else is new ? Ok in parts he said where were you TG advocates when we needed you ? Excuse me ? Anyhow Now the HRC and good on em ! is launching a major lobbying effort to have an INCLUSIVE bill - this is critical. The goal is for ALL of us to call congress , 202 224 3121, and let at least 10 friends know about this effort to have an INCLUSIVE ENDA. - bottom line is to show our community IS IN FACT united. And no please do not minimize our UNITY by calling those who will not settle on piecemeal non inclusive legislation ” purists” or too naive, for this harsh political world…screw that noise ! There are thousands willing to educate the population about our realities and especially our Gender Identity realities..(its all about perceived gender norms and identities)..been there done that got the T shirt. Finally its politics as usual that has led us to where we are today.. cowering democrats, oh please Mary , grow a spine ! (the HRC has). No offense to Mr Frank, but really how has all the democratic political calculus worked out for you all so far ? Watch it for yourselves. its quite a smooth and yet sadly flawed speech. Realities.. hmmm we make our own realities,we dream. We have a moral compass that transcends so called political realities. We push the envelope..somebody has to. The only thing we have to fear is really fear itself. Also on Pams House Blend there is plenty to delve into for those not caught up on this imaginary schism in the LGBT community. The vast vast majority wants an TG inclusive bill. Yeah Mr. Frank Washington is tough, thats when the tough fight harder. Compromise, increments ? - No lets have the full on discussion now or wait until after the elections. Then, Let the chips fall where they may. Stop trying to split us and school us with how things are in Washington,..we know how they are - they suck ! WE also know how things are locally where the rubber hits the road. Fool us once shame on you, fool us twice shame on us. And we gave up SHAME a long time ago.

And the mythical liberal democrats just pure and simply do not fight hard enough or boldly enough - take a lesson from the LGBT(s) community our moral compass is in tact. Capitulation, on everything from terrorism, to impeachment, to swift boating , to not getting the vote counted is rendering the dems are morally bankrupt as the thugs. RISE ABOVE IT ! Learn from us, we fight back, we act up.

We have always been a community of outsiders. It is all about gender bending or transgressing gender norms. We are not like straight people IN THEIR MINDS and we never will be. We are completely normal. We are not making a choice to be Gay Lesbian Bi or TG. TG is an umbrella term that encompasses everything from a woman wearing pants to a transsexual. We have a long history, with many points in time where political and social theory raised our conscienceness.’ (i.e. women still do not make as much money as men)

WE are in every country , every race, every socio economic demographic and of every political persuasion. The only choice we make is to affirm our true nature’s and hopefully positively embrace our “political” indentities so that the world may see us OUT and living, and not just blindly hate and fear us..ie. Homophobia. out of fear of the “other.”

Studies have found that when someone knows they know a gay person they are less likely to be as willfully ignorant or hateful as they might have been ,if they thought they knew no gay people at all.

We can have inclusive legislation that could and should actually include heterosexual non conformers i.e. people in common law marriages or cross dressers,fetishers, which is a large group of people; those whose are not even homosexually oriented, but are not Ozzie and Harriet either. We are a loving,inclusive community. Nowadays…we got most of our seperatism out of our system in the 70s. It has had no place in our political movement since death visited “seemingly” only us, the 80s. anyhooo…
