Ron Paul; America’s Bigot?

In my emails this morning I spied one from POAC, which I get daily and enjoy due to it’s diversity of subjects and issues. In it, was a link to a TNR story about Ron Paul’s old newsletters, the title of which was ” Angry White Man“. So, I clicked on the link and was utterly appalled at what I read. Pages and pages of bullshittery that squarely attacked Blacks, gays and others from all angles and levels. Let me give you just a taste of what the article contains, and which it attributes to Ron Paul or writers on his website which contained his name as the owner of the site:
Sphere: Related ContentPaul’s alliance with neo-Confederates helps explain the views his newsletters have long espoused on race. Take, for instance, a special issue of the Ron Paul Political Report, published in June 1992, dedicated to explaining the Los Angeles riots of that year. “Order was only restored in L.A. when it came time for the blacks to pick up their welfare checks three days after rioting began,” read one typical passage. According to the newsletter, the looting was a natural byproduct of government indulging the black community with “‘civil rights,’ quotas, mandated hiring preferences, set-asides for government contracts, gerrymandered voting districts, black bureaucracies, black mayors, black curricula in schools, black tv shows, black tv anchors, hate crime laws, and public humiliation for anyone who dares question the black agenda.”

Bill Clinton used it several times today in New Hampshire when he was swarmed by Ron Paul wingnuts. From MSNBC’s First Read:
KEENE, NH — Several Ron Paul supporters shadowed a much larger Clinton entourage as Bill Clinton greeted supporters downtown. The former president later called them “nuts.”
During his third stop of the day, the former president posed for pictures and shook hands as he strolled down Main Street on this unseasonably warm Primary Eve day. Across the street, a few Paul supporters shouted his name.
Eventually, Clinton stopped outside a bakery, offered some remarks, and took questions. As he was answering one on Iraq, one of the Paul backers interrupted and shouted that the Sept. 11 attacks were an inside job, and that the U.S. didn’t need to be in Iraq and Afghanistan.
When he dropped an F-bomb, the crowd booed. Clinton, who had tried to talk over the man, gave up.
“You wanna know what I think?” Clinton said. “You guys who think 9/11 was an inside job are crazy as hell. My wife was the senator from New York when that happened. I was down at Ground Zero. I saw the victims’ families. You’re nuts.”
That’s telling em Billy!
When is an earmark not an earmark?

Why, when Ron Paul puts it in a bill! This Sunday, on Meet the Press, Ron Paul tried very hard to portray the…ahem..earmarks he goes after as merely getting his constituents back some of their tax money.
Pardon me whilst I laugh my ass off. Ronnie has asked for funding on a variety of state programs..among them: water projects, a nursing program, to expand a hospital cancer center and to promote Texas shrimp.
Texas Shrimp? WTF? If thats not a fucking earmark, I don’t know what is. Paul refused to vote for financial help for victims of Katrina..but shrimp from Texas need an ear-fucking-mark? Tim Russert pointed out that Mr. Paul’s district received more than $4 billion from the federal government in the first nine months of the 2006 fiscal year.-That is a district..not the state of Texas my dear reader.
The NYT has an article up about Paul’s MTP visit and it isn’t very flattering either. Of course the RP wingnuts will paint a different picture, but to me..Paul says one thing and does another..but since he is polling mostly in the single digits..the MSM gives him little ink on his bullshittery. An earmark still smells and tastes like bacon..therefore it IS bacon.

Ron Paul, according to Politico, possibly surpassed the record for filling campaign coffers in a single day Sunday. The record: $5.7 million that John Kerry raised the day after he” locked up” the 2004 Democratic presidential nomination – he largest single-day fundraising haul in U.S. political history per the Politico writeup.
The article just freaking blew my mind in the dollar department:
Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) raised an astounding $5.58 million and counting on Sunday, almost certainly guaranteeing he’ll out-raise his rivals for the Republican nomination in the fourth quarter and likely will be able to fund a presence in many of states that vote Feb. 5.
What if Ronnie gets the votes on Super Tuesday and thereby gets the
Rethug nomination?
