Let’s Talk Taxation

Chimpy (and all his Gopper wannabe successors) constantly promise not to ever, ever raise any taxes. Phrases like “it’s YOUR money!” are as common in talking-points speak as “surrender monkey” and “America hater.”

I don’t think that I have to tell the intelligent readers of this blog that only about 2% of all Americans have seen any kind of largesse from Chimpy’s tax “cuts” (and I use the quotes because any cut in taxes not followed by a cut in spending is, in fact, a deferred tax increase.) That big, generous Chimpy “cut” has been eaten up for most people by hikes in State and local taxes, which are a direct result of the States having to do more and more things the Feds used to do. But let’s play a little pretend game here for a minute. Let’s pretend we all got to keep that extra $20 or so a month that Chimpy’s generous tax “cuts” left us with. Read more
