Ten Post Round-Up: Aargh! Edition
September 19, 2008 by Dizzy Dezzi · Leave a Comment
I totally slipped up not posting, yesterday. I had to get a new phone and my dealer hooked me up with the lastest form of crack, also known as the Blackberry (Curve, flavored). I just want to thank John McCain for making that possible.
I started researchin’ for today’s Ten Post Round-Up and I had this whole “opposite day” theme planned. Then, I realized that today be “International Talk Like A Pirate Day” and decided that I would run with t’ pirate theme instead and save t’ “opposite day” theme for some other day that I will likely forget in t’ future.
In keepin’ with today’s theme, I humbly offer you Rex Smith, Linda Ronstadt and Kevin Kline: Pirates of Penzance - Modern Major General for your enjoyment.

So long, 2007. Hello, 2008.
I am finally recovering from another wild New Year’s Eve. I finally made it home around 3:30AM! Just like last year, at the first annual New Year’s Eve party, I had to encourage the hostess that I really needed to get home and get my beauty rest, despite the fact that we were all having a lot of fun and didn’t want it to end. The first day of 2008 saw me dragging my butt around trying to find the motivation to do anything other than vegetate. (BTW, if you want to see how I pulled off my “Alicia Keys” look for the Italian-themed shindig, just visit my blog at Dizzy Dayz).
I need something upbeat to get me moving, this morning, so I’ll share one of my all-time favorite ditty’s with you. Now, I realize this song is totally over commercialized (it’s used in a major hair product campaign and has been used in about a dozen movies), but I still love it (I get completely animated and excited when I hear the intro). Plus, it’s my official New Year Anthem: Unwritten–Natasha Bedingfield.
Prepare your gray matter for the first Ten Post Round-Up for 2008:
1) When the CIA destroys evidence, it’s kind of hard to believe they aren’t trying to cover up something..–Brilliant at Breakfast
2) Kucinich tosses a sort of endorsement to Obama.–AMERICAblog
3) One good thing about 2008? It’s the last year of the Bushliburton regime! (Hopefully)–Shakesville

Wow. Another year is coming to an end.
I’m going to be ending this year in the same way that I ended last year (same what and where), with one notable exception. I’ll be working my musical magic on New Year’s Eve, just like I did last year. But, this year, SSG Dizzy will not be with me. Of course, that’s not news. He’s been in and out of Iraq, every other year since 2003. What is news is that, this time next year, I will very likely be observing New Year’s Eve the same way (same what and where) but without SSG Dizzy (in ten years, we have never missed any annual holiday two years in a row).
I know I am not the only blogger looking on this world in melancholy. It’s hard to think positive about the next year when the last 7 years have been a waking nightmare. I have as much as anyone to be deeply concerned about my immediate future (every day begins with a prayer that I will not get a “special” knock at the door or an urgent phone call). But, the best way I know to get through each day (the ONLY way I know to get through each day) is to think positively and focus on things that lift my spirit.
Before we proceed to today’s Round-Up, let’s sip a hearty cuppa and watch and listen to this uplifting video: Music in the Nature 2008 - Happy New Year
You might want to add a shot of something stronger to your morning cuppa as we proceed to today’s Ten Post Round-Up:
1) The “Golden Arches” are going “green”.–(Good News Network)
2) Ron Paul is peeved at Faux Nooz.–(Think Progress)
3) Another unfortunate tazing incident.–(Open Your Minds Eye)

Great! You’re awake. I was afraid that all the holiday festivities had knocked you on your butt. Got your morning cuppa? Sweet. (I won’t tell Gran that you knoshed the last of her Bailey’s. It’ll be our little secret).
Can you believe what the Blog-elves left in my RSS stocking? Some of these posts are definitely keepers, but I certainly hope that some of these stories have a liberal return policy (especially since I can’t imagine “re-gifting” any of the horrendous post goodies I found under the feed-tree).
Did you have to deal with a little “jerk”, like Tommy at your holiday feast? (Warning: “bad words”).
Christmas wasn’t all bad, so don’t feel too bad for me. I got some real keepers, this holiday. But, I certainly hope that some of the duds I received will not be making an appearance next Christmas.
1) Thankfully, there were no lumps of coal in this stocking from the Good News Network. Just an enjoyable list of Top Ten Good News Stories of 2007!.
2) Music is my most favorite gift of all. How could I not love the gift of a John Lennon classic. This super special gift was thanks to enigma4ever at Watergate Summer.
3) It’s a good thing I have a sense of humor or this particular goody would give me the creeps. But, hey, it’s way better than fruitcake! (Jokester’s Christmas cards have a heavenly post)
4) There is quite a bit of irony in this great holiday story, but nevertheless, it’s still a heartwarming story. (GI Saves Iraqi Boy in Long-Shot Adoption)
5) Lil’ Dizzy registered a star (in the Andromeda constellation) in her name, for Christmas, so we’ve spent a bit of time looking heaven-ward. This gem from Signs of the Times makes note that at the end of the month of January, a large asteroid will be traveling very close by the “third rock from the Sun.”
